Not really surprising tbh. It's not a regular occurrance. Think i've only seen one in local matches in my whole time of playing.

No bowler has ever taken 4 in 4 in first class cricket, ever. Now that is surprising.

I'm sure Kevan James of Hampshire did it against India in 1996, and Chris Old possibly may have done one in the 70's.

If so it wasn't first class. Pat Pocock took something like 7 in 9 balls in the 70s, but not 4 in 4.
Malinga did it in the last world cup.

Kevan James' was in a tour match so perhaps it wasn't classed as first-class, he scored a century in the same game aswell.

Ironically, Crofts was also last season.
I just find it surprising as Croft is a very good bowler and has been around ages. Thought he may have snared a few in his time, especially bowling to lower order Div 2 batsmen.

Shane Warne has the most test runs (3,154) without scoring a century. His top score was 99 (pretty sure he got it more than once too, and wasnt one of them in the 2005 Ashes?)
