They were batsmen
Wright isn't showing any top quality at either of his disciplines.
How many times have I said, allrounders have two facets to work on not one like they did
Colly is not an allrounder, he is a batsman who turns his arm over

Many all-rounders start off as one or the other though, Flintoff a batsman who bowled a bit, Botham was a bowler who batted a bit, what is Wright actually?. No-one is sure, a slogger who bowls a bit perhaps.
very similar to Shane Watson who has impoved out of sight by playing regularly in the Aussie side
Watson always had more potential than Wright, he was a big part of their ODI side before he got into the test team.
from memory they were bemoaning he hadnt kicked on when they last come over
They were but he was still a regular in their ODI side and had a few credible performances to his name. The problem with Wright is that he hasn't even that.
Its funny how now Watson has had a regular run of game opening, he has kicked on
Can you ever imagine Luke Wright opening the batting in a test match?
Watson simply has more ability than him.
didnt say like for like, focus on the run of games in a regular batting spot
He's had a decent few games opening up and batting 7. Maybe not enough but I think the problem is that even he doesn't know where he should be batting if given the choice.
give him a year at 7 and 4th choice seamer
he needs longer than others because he has two facets to concentrate on
Maybe this could be a good year to try that, I'm not all that sure he deserves it but we have no Ashes series looming for another 2 years so I guess it's quite a risk-free strategy to give Wright an opportunity and if he fails then send him back to county cricket. Like I say though, I'm not sure he deserves it, he's never looked to me like anyone who would get top batsmen out or score meaningful runs. I think at best for him they should let him try and be an out and out all-rounder at ODI level, bat 7 and bowl a full quota.
maybe your right, but sometimes you need to go on a hunch rather than hard evidence.
Given that the selectors have shown a lot of faith in him already, they may aswell back their own hunch and let him proves the majority of us wrong. As much as I've said I don't think Wright knows what he wants to be or where he should bat, I don't think the selectors know what to do with him long term either.
they havent, they keep moving him round the order
I missed the game during the week so ive no idea if we saw anything new or not from him.
