Vaughan just made a good comment on TMS there about Wright. If he was going to play shots like that why not take the power play??

We really don't have a clue how to play One Day cricket anymore do we??

spot on. my thoughts exactly.we did it v bangladesh aswell. morgan going great looking to play shots. he got out then we took the power play. if we can see it why cant the england team?

ts been f***ing awful from England this World Cup and whether they do progress or not one thing is for sure - the ECB want f***ing flogging for their scheduling of England's Winter.

Most of the squad have been away from home and living in each other's pockets for 6 months. First they went to Bangladesh, then Australia and now India/SriLanka. I'm sure we played some pointless Twenty20 games in Dubai amongst all that too. The squad should have been able to come home for a fortnight off after Australia. It was ridiculous that they played 7 ODI's in Oz.

In fairness to who is out there too - England could probably make a good side with the injuries they have and the players who aren't there. Cook, KP, Colly, Broad, Shahzad to name just a few.

I'd be quite happy if we just fucked 50 over cricket off. Tests for those who are into cricket and T20 for those who like to watch a smack about!

You make a decent point. 50 over cricket I find very tedious now. I could watch Test Cricket all year round.

The thing is it's not just this england management team is it? We've consistently been a poor ODI side for years. When I watch a team like India blasting away at the start and put nigh on 100 on during the first 10 overs and then I watch England piss about for the first 15 it's truly shocking.

Maybe we ought to wise up to the fact that the ECB don't put as much effort into the One Day game as they do the test.

I would doubt that India have a much different team from ODI's to tests so why can't the England team adapt??

I have enjoyed this world cup tbf but overall there is no need to play as many ODI's as they do.

I think that the ECB use this and T20's as the cash cows and thats why they play as many as they do.

Boils down to greed at the end of the day. Fuck the players, show us the money.

the first over today summed England up. Strauss had 6 balls to either cut or pull his favourite shots yet let every ball go through to the keeper. We are far too negative and don't play attcking shots as we are scared yet chip balls up to mid off and on playing tippy tappy shite. When we do play the big shots we usually have a chance of taking a powerplay to do so but instead we don't
