Right lads, what do we think. We meet the West Indies tomorrow in Chennai, a pitch which has been decidedly dodgy so far. Man for man, England are the better team, but in Gayle, Pollard and Roach, the Windies posses match winners we simply don't. Windies bowling attack is county standard at best, but unless we know which England will turn up, very difficult to call. I still think England are better suited to what is traditionally a difficult surface. Ave 1st inns score here since 2000 is 214. Bear that in mind if you fancy an innings runs bet in the morning. I'd expect opening lines from bookies / spreads to be much higher (dep on pitch report of course)

It's last chance saloon, so we will win and all will be forgotten.

If we finish 4th in the group do we play the group winners from the other group?

nee idea. Gayle has a habit of scoring ODI runs against us, Roach is average and has taken only 6 wickets in his ODI career against the major nations, Pollard has one good game in 6 so Gayle and also Benn for me will be the danger men. For us we need to get off to a good start with the bat and ball which hasn't happened in any game yet.

Result nee idea both teams are unpredictable although I feel England have the better team man for man

Yep, In Dhakka 23rd March (Odds on Australia)

One quick thing Eddy while I think on, I know for a fact there has been a substantial (and I mean SUBSTANTIAL) spread bet, buying tournament wides for a certain team, if you know what I mean! Sculduggery of the highest order, you couldn't make it up.

clearly someone makes it up:lol: but on a serious note I can see why some of the minor nations get involved with this as they are paid very little and for some it might be a way of helping their families out but we aren't just talking about the minor nations some of the teams/people mentioned are the best paid sportsmen in the world.

Kenya must have paid out well on that spread bet.

IMHO if we put them in, we'll win. If we bat first, we'll have a tougher task, as has been mentioned, players like Gayle are match winners for the Windies and will react well to having a target to chase, in much the same way as I think we will.

My prediction, whoever bowls first wins.

We'll lose.

Can we lose and still go through?

Nope. Even if we win we first have to hope SA beat Bangladesh if Bangladesh win that game then as long as India beat WI we would be in the next round otherwise it goes down to NRR between us and India

So you'd imagine if we win we're through?

PS - I've paid my £15 membership fee but not sure when I'll be able to get down with my form. Is this going to be a problem?

I think we would be through yes.

I'll email you the form and just fill it in and send it back to me that will be ok.

Can't see anything other than a WIndies win unfortunately.

The only way I see England winning is by bowling first and restricting a strong batting line up to below 250. Their bowling isn't great; but then again neither is England's batting.

Pitch doesn't look typical Chennai, looks a complete road. Looks a 260 - 270 par pitch here, especially against this bowling lineup.
