drawing in south africa

winning the t20 world cup

beating bangladesh and pakistan in test series at home

beating the aussies in a one day series at home

retaining the ashes by new years eve 2010

hopefully this coming summer will see sri lanka and india despatched at test level

pretty decent record that imo

Having watched England for nigh-on twenty years I have to say last year was easily the most successful year in my memory. I enjoyed '98 when England drew that series with South Africa it really got my attention and was the turning point for England coming back into the ascendancy. I know 1999 was a bad year when Hussain got booed by the England fans after a poor series against New Zealand

What about when Vaughan was captain? What was the run up to the Ashes in 2005, didn't we win a few series on the bounce, some on the sub continent?

Or am I making stuff up?

Hell of a year though, despite what EB will say about everyone else being crap.

that was a good year but we ended it by losing in pakistan iirc.

just last year was basically non stop success

2004 was a good year too. 7 wins in a row, winning home and away against Windies, winning away to Saffers.

it was the best year IMO as we finally won an ODI tournament and secured an away ashes win its just a shame 2011 has started so poorly so far
