you little tinker.Bell to open Morgan in at 5 and Yardy staying in ahead of Colligwood if the pitch is a spinners wicket otherwise Collingwood. Wright may also come into contention.
thats an interesting one as you say, swanny has done for notts but against international teams he has no experience.Michael Vaughan on Twitter threw a left-field selection yesterday by saying they should consider Swann to open. Now while that is likely to be a very all or nothing scenario, I wouldn't be against it as he will try and play some shots while the field is up, and if it fails then we haven't lost an established batsman. He used to do it for Notts in one-day cricket too.
Having said that, it's nailed on to Bell or Prior, neither of which I'd be happy with. Prior shouldn't even be in the squad and if he hadn't have been picked, this decision would have been so much easier as we could have had Davies there.

saying that, the next two games are bangladesh and the windies. this new tactic of opening the bowling with a spinner could help swanny score a quick 30 odd.
Agreed, I think that's a good idea. He is not afraid to hit over the top, and with the field up that will help him. He's done it in the past, albeit against county bowlers, but I dont see not give it a try in the next couple of games and see if it works. Especially, as you say, with a lot of teams opening the bowling with a spinner in this tournament.
i am convinced. its something that could work v the banglies but i would want a more recognised batsmen in for the knockout stages.
funnily enough ally cook was showing some real ability in last seasons domestic T20 and one day games for essex.
the way strauss is playing he is the new jayasuryia (sp) he has the bald nut, i wonder if he could bowl a bit of filthBell, Trott, Cook and Strauss in the same one day team? Imagine the excitement![]()

Did you see when Strauss bowled in the tour game mid-Ashes series? Went at about 12 an over in a 3 day game.
