Against New Zealand (ranked 7th) and Zimbabwe (ranked 10th)

Whats knocking over crap ever meant anything on here?

Your the first to jump on the Jimmy bandwagon when he was knocking over Pakistan (ranked 7th) and Australia (ranked 5th) and Bangladesh (ranked 10)

Australia are not ranked 5th because of their batsman, they're ranked 5th because their test bowlers are shite.

Australia have more bowlers ranked in the worlds top 20 bowlers than batsman

Ponting
Katich
Clarke
Kahwaga
North
Haddin

None are ranked in the worlds top 20 batsman, sorry to piss on your parade

Hang on though, I thought you said rankings count for nothing. Or is that only when it suits your argument?

And for what it's worth Clarke, Ponting, Katich, Haddin and Hussey is still a fairly formidable batting line up; especially in Australia.

The fact that Swann and Anderson got spanked on a road against the world's best batsmen means very little as I would fancy 95% of all international bowlers would have leaked runs bowling on that pitch.

And lest we not forget with a bit more luck Jimmy could have had Sehwag on numerous occasions early on and he was slightly unlucky with misfields and inside edges which went for 4. He wasn't particularly good but those figures are extremely harsh.

The good thing about cricket is it's always open to opinion, and players can be good and bad at different times and in different formats of the game. If Jimmy Anderson and Graeme Swann have ended up in the top 5 bowlers in the world it's not on criteria that they have set but ones which are independent and everyone has to be judged by (or am I wrong?).

They have to learn to play their game on English based pitches and we have no comparison or regular based northern-hemisphere based countries to play against and all our test series are away games in all senses of the word. They have to adapt their game all the time. Perhaps you should give a bit of credit where it's due rather than just use the WC as an opportunity to prolong an agenda that everyone is getting a bit bored with.

Nowt personal, just a bit of an observation.

That's right, ignore the whole post and laugh at the last few words.

Im turning into a clone of you

Would you not say that also gives them a massive advantage as opposition batsman by and large dont have the experience of playing on English wickets which is why I sometimes dont comprehend people like AndySAFC telling the world that Swann is the 2nd best bowler in the world

No, he's not and Ponting, Katich, Clarke and Haddin are some of the 20 best batsmen in the world. But you only use the world rankings as an argument when they suit and there is proof of that on this thread so dont bother trying to deny that one.

Your the one who said Swann is the 2nd best bowler in the world because he was 2nd in the rankings.

The Aussies arent listed in the top 20, come back to me when you have made your mind up which hymn sheet you are singing from today.

p.s. Rentaghost will be along soon to hold your hand

I actually prefer watching players live and then form a reasoned judgement on their preformance.

You probably had a quick look at the scorecard once the game had finished, did a sex-wee in your pants and then logged onto here as quickly as possible to gloat.

You could say it works both ways, so it's a level playing field. If the ranking say Swann is the second best bowler in the world, it must be based on some kind of criteria which everyone is judged by. If that is flawed then it hardly Swann's fault.

That's what he did for the majority of the Ashes. Except there was no sex-wee because Jimmy cleaned up the Aussies time after time.

Aye but they're shite and apparently the pitches were a bowlers paradise so those wickets don't count.

This one game, however in which every bowler got spanked was his one true test and he failed. Should never play for England again.

to be the best you have to beat the best, when you come into the real world you will realise there isnt any Aussie batsman anywhere near the level of Sehwag or Sachin in 1 over, 6 over, 50 over or test cricket

Oh aye, straight from Rentaghost that one. Its why I dont engage in discussions with you. At least have an opinion of your own

The Sehwag which Anderson beat all ends up twice in the first 3 balls of the game?

Refusing to comment on whether you actually saw England bowl then?

Well for starters its based on performances on the pitch. The more wickets you get the more points you get. We play more tests per calender year than any other country. We also bowl on the most bowler friendly wickets in the world along with NZ
