time for him to be dropped from the one day team, his bowling over the last few one day games has been absolutely shocking

in tournament cricket, you cant afford a weak link

So in 2 games he's went from decent one day bowler to absolutely shocking?

Ever thought he's just had a couple of off days?

All the bowlers struggled today apart from Bresnan.

To be fair he's now got two of the 4 worst English figures in World Cups, he's all over the shop.

Broad in for him next game.

Might be the 1st time I've agreed with EB

in tournament cricket, how many games do u give a bowler going for 90 runs every 10 overs

If he goes at 8/9 an over and starts bowling waste high balls down the leg side again in the next game he has to be dropped, but brought back in after the WC because he is still England's main seam bowler.

are we playing some whipping boys next game so we can paper over the cracks with our one dimensional cannon fodder opening bowler

Just checked, it's Ireland on Wednesday. So he'll probably have to take some wickets for not many if he wants to stay in the side.

The Netherlands game was a shocker, coming up today against the potential winners of the World Cup was not the best for his confidence. I think he may be given a rest in the coming games, but he will lead England's attack in the knockout stages.

I'm with essexboy on this one as Anderson really didn't know where to bowl. He has been improving as an ODI player but unlike the test side he isn't a fixture in the ODI side for me.

Certainly a fair call by EB. One day cricket and bowling in ODI matches are like competing in 2 different sports. In test matches Anderson can pitch the ball up with 3 slips and two gullys and the batsman are reluctant to drive and when they do theres a fair chance they will be out. When he bowls his mnatural length he can swing it both ways with the new and old ball. However in ODIs they can chance their arm hit through the line and the chances are any thick edges will go for 4. Reverse swing is much less of a factor in ODIs and he simply isnt as good at mixing it up as other bowlers.
