where are all the SMB lads at?? The numbers seem to have dwindled over the last month or so. I completely agree that rob shouldn't have to be putting his own money in at all. I know that some lads can't make it every week but last night was a poor turn out.

Think ed is right with regards to the hour. The more time we have in the nets in one go the better we will get.

that needs to come from the smb funds mate not your responsability to make money up, I did that last year and won't ever be doing it again. Mick needs to give you 50pounds incase these matters such arise and maybe the fee needs to go up. It would be a shame to give it up.

I will be there next week as will Lee who is back working normal nights.

if this is the case I won't be turning up any longer it wouldn't be worth it

My only concern is we use up whats left of the kitty(or a good chunk of it) down to the poor attendences. and if it means dropping it to a hour rather than forking out an extra 10 or 15 quid then that makes sense to me.

If we do that then we should set a sensible limit to give a decent amount of time batting.

It won't be an hour though will it as we have to set it up and then reset the hall. It will be 50mins meaning about 10mins max for batting, no time for doing any feilding stuff and hardly then getting a bowl.

I may sound like a selfish cunt here but its about time those who attend sessions regularly get something back. I can count on one hand how many net sessions I have missed since we started them year and a half ago and then having to pay silly money for an hours training because people didn't turn up and then still whilist doing that putting some extra in so the clubs funds would rise. I wasn't the only one doing that the likes of beefy, stew, Rob and even you Mick did it plus aa few others sorry if I didn't name you. Most of the regulars have also put money in for anything that has come up such as dog tickets, world cup competitions etc. The most we would lose would be a 100quid and if that is the case then IMO so be it why should the ones who attend be penialised again, everyone knew the dates of these net session and no-one complained about them when they were put on the board. This is not me having ago at those who aren't attending work, family, health and finances all come first Fact.
Everyone who comes to training will benefit from the two hours as you can work on lots of things which TBF we all need to do an hour will just get you back into the swing of cricket not actually improving you. If it means putting match fees up to 4quid then so be it.

You selfish c... nah mate just joking.

I agree with you on most of that. I enjoyed the extra time batting on tuesday but was knackered come the end. I feel like my batting is coming on again after a really poor end to the season.

Dunno how easy it is to change the night but maybe a poll to see if more people would attend on a different night as I know some lads would love to get there but can't due to work commitments or other stuff. It's not fair on Rob who is having to pull out extra. Either we get a commitment from more lads to have the nets on or we cancel them and just go down to the houghton ones on sundays.

Simple really. These were supposed to be the SMB nets yet only 7 turned up. I'm sure at one point we had enough players to fill nearly 2 teams last year. Where have they gone or are they all good enough to not need nets now?

I'll be back next week, just had an appointment this week I couldn't get out of. Sometimes I'm working away (2 or 3 weeks ago I was stuck in Glasgow) so can't make every week but I only put my name down if I know I can make it or let you know if I'm pulling out for any reason (such as this week).

Can't agree more

I can see tangible improvements in peoples batting.
I think an hour is not long enough and 2 perhaps a little too long with a short field batting and bowling. If loads turn up 2 hours ain't enough..but I am a selfish **** and I don't care..... I need to work on my batting, bowling and fielding.

been working late all week trying to sort the stolen phone lines from down shotton way.. sorry to say it rob but they been cut again marra...probably wont be back on till sunday at the earliest...you need to lay in wait for the ***** bassas and catch them at it... hopefully there on tuesday if i can get there, the mrs takes the bairn to brownies on a tuesday but sometimes her dad can take her... will see what the crack is this week... dont mind chipping in a bit more if numbers are down when im there...i will endeavour to raid more spare change for tuesday coming..........

I work 'til 8 every Tuesday so i'm a definite no go. Sunday's are easier, except last Sunday, so I'm a yes for those.

As someone who has contributed to SMB funds but attends weekend rather than midweek nets.... I completely agree with you. If a tenner of our excess funds subsidises nets that are benefitting several of our players it sounds like money well spent to me.
