Shazad pushing hard though....

Shahzad and Bresnan are not international class and will get found out over time
A tad harsh on Shahzad who's still only young and improving but I agree about Bresnan. However, he seems to be one of these bits and pieces cricketers that the England management love to have in their team.

For this, also see: Luke Wright, Michael Yardy, Ravi Bopara

Bopara is a front line batsman who turns his arm over that isnt a bit and pieces cricketer

Wright has the potential to be a genuine world class allrounder (how many are there apart from Kallis). The dearth of these just shows how hard it is to produce them. We are doing our best to make sure Wright never realises his potential.

Yardy is a county cricketer

A bits and pieces cricketer would be Darren Maddy or David Leatherdale

To be honest, aside from a few innings here and there i've never seen Bopara bat like a front line batsman. Seems to only get a game in the ODI setup because he can bowl a bit too.

Wright will never, ever be world class. The way he's been played hasn't helped him but even so it doesn't excuse some of the inept performances we've seen from him over the last few years. He doesn't have the batting technique to make it at international level and his bowling isn't threatening or overly economic either. Essentially a poor mans Shane Watson.

Yardy, I will agree with.

You dont need the best batting technique as an allrounder because you wont be coming in against the new ball. He is a number 7 batsman and 4th choice seamer as it stands. Flintoff had a crap batting technique. Shane Watson has been the nearly man for Australia for many years and is an example of someone who has repaid the faith the selectors have shown.

Flintoff's technique was still a damn sight better than Wright's is, and he had a lot more power and arguably a more varied array of shots.

Shane Watson always looked to have potential and has always, and will always have a better batting technique than Wright and despite him being a reluctant bowler is still a lot more threatening than Wright. Luke Wright just a distinctly average player i'm afraid.

Australia and India the teams to beat for me
