Thursday night ( a think) Ajax attacked some Sunderland in the grasshopper, they came from all 3 directions so Sunderland had to stand and fight back as there was nowhere to go, held there own by all accounts, plus considering there wasn't many of them there was pretty good.
The Saturday was when Ajax were roaming around in groups and some safc got into a scrap with Dutch undercover coppers, who to be fair looked like a bunch wanting a fight.

This is about spot on.

Probably do know each other, how old are you like I'm 38.
Remember GE from school but he was older than me but if I remember right he was soft as shite just a hanger on with the hard lads.

I wasn't really in that group of lads but me mate was so I drank with them sometimes

Im 39. Agree about GE, I used to work with him, an OK lad but thought he was harder than he was (cos of his 'association') and bull$h*tter, but canny enough. PP used to live a street away from me when we were kids. I didnt go to Fram school either, Leonards boy!!

will have been around 2003

aye i remember all of these, cardiff and bristol were good fun that day, me and my mate came down from leeds and were staying with me da and his mate in newport, even when we got back there on the might there was locals rucking with each other, got knocked back from a club for having trainers on. id had to climb over an unconcious bloke with blood coming out of his face in the porch bit to even reach the door. had to laugh.

It was the friday mate about 11pm.

Most inside the grasshopper, few outside, from nowhere about 30/40 Ajax turned up, all there faces covered, all with wine bottles etc. Chairs tossed, even bikes! At first we backed off not knowing what was going on, then steamed into Ajax, once they ran out of ammunition they shit it and ran off. 2 of Northumbria's worst were there in plain clothes and filmed some of it. One of my mates got issued with a banning order because of it but he contested it and got off with it as it was cleary an unprovoked attack and he acted in self defence.

Other games not mentioned..

Boro away at the riverside when we won 1-0 with a darren williams header. Went to darlo on the morning via taxi's and trains from durham.

Then everyone headed into boro.

Got off the train to be met by hails of bottles etc and coppers with a love of using there truncheons. Got escorted down towards ground where everyone without a ticket was stopped and took back to station. Out of around 200 I would say about 40 (max) had tickets and continued onto ground. Out of the walkway on the right about a hundred of boro came steaming out with bricks, blocks the lot. Honestly thought I was gona die that day, never been under the cosh so much. One copper who was on a horse was shouting follow me as he ran at the boro lot, you couldnt make it up, never to this day have I ever saw anything like it. Out of the 40 that was there I would say there was 20 or so who you would want with you in situations like that. After the game it was like a scene out of zula, must have been 300/400 waiting under bridge and coppers said "fuck the lot of you's, you came looking for it, no escort back to station". A few of the nutters said fair do's and started walking towards boro... i think I had to toss me cowie's (underpants for the southern readers) when I got back!

When the coppers seen what was happening they swiftly rounded us up and started walking to station, there was boro everywhere in escort and every few mins it would kick off. What an absolutely mental day from start to finish.

Boro has always been one of the worst grounds to go to. Going to sid james is like going to church compared to going to boro.

I remember that well, reckon ?i was about 17 and went with me dads mate.

Cant recall any bother beforehand but afterwards it was mental. Mixed fans headed into a tunnell under the 66 and in there all hell broke loose. About 3 coppers in shell suits whipped out telescopic truncheons and started lashing anyone in sight. We ran back and I`ll never forgot a
bloke of about 50 minding his own business (SAFC scarf on) had a breeze block smashed into his boatrace from about 3 foot away. I ran like reck, nearly gott ran over by a horse.

We made a 2 mile detour to avoid the bother then headed to the station. Still chocca with Boro fans foaming at the mouth. Went to an irish bar where we tried to look miserable and sunk a few pints till the train station emptied.

Thankfully in about 100 away days with SAFC this is about the only bother ive witnessed, Im proud of that.
I speak to skunks who seem to have a ruck at every other away game.
Anyone who wishes we were a `big name` is a mug imo, it would just mean loads of innocent lads wanting a quiet few jars would get filled in every season.
Its a load of shite.

Surprised no one mentioned Brighton away about 1978 first game of the season went down with Vauxies, called into Harrow on the way back having a goodnight no bother until the locals decided to take Vauxies on,carnage.Few lads got sent down.
Derby County the same season I think f****ng hell before during and after.Came out the Baseball ground vans and cars overturned locals running round with axes, got beat 1 nil leighton james ,Sunderland fans tried to chin him when he was taking a corner!

some good fun and so good
CHELSEA 85,OLD AYESOME PARK(CUP GAME),England v Turkey(Leeds had a canny mob up for that 1)numerous v the scum.Anyone remember Scunthorpe in a cup game f***ing filth on the horses hitting anything that moved kernts.Remember Oldham holding there own up here beside the Cambridge.Same game England 1 the scum teaming up with Forest again but got chased back to seaburn station pretty sharpish.

Lies.

And Boro is always dodgy afterwards.

I remember the police stamping on everyones feet and if you didn't flinch they knew you had steel caps on - there was a bit of Skinhead revial going on.

Dicky H & Spike by themselves in the paddock taking on 3 or 4 of their lads after we were kept in.

Are you sure anyone was sent down?

I remember the pub, it had live music and when the group came on and saw us all they nearly ran off - but the lead singer announced the groups name as 'The Nervous' and said if no one else was they were certainly feckin nervous. They were great.

It was a bit later taht year and it could have been Harrow again that a load of our lot were done for wearing para-military gear and fighting.

couple of years ago?

man utd came out chanting and ended up sprinting for their coaches and needing the police to crack some heads to save them

not trouble but the funniest ive seen was liverpool at home a couple of years ago. small group fo their lads heading for the town after the game and followed by sunderland. they legged it into mcdonalds, literally sat down with families to try and hide and rang the police to escort them out

Does this not go against the myth that holigans only fight fellow hooligans? In over 25 years of following Sunderland I have largely managed to avoid trouble. I have unfortunately been caught up in a few nasty incidents most notably when Newcastle Fans attacked the Pilot Cutter (Harbour View) with Baseball Bats.
I also once nearly got caught up between Newcastle and Birmingham in the Irish Bar opposite Central Station (About 2003 I think). Was waiting to be picked up for a stag do and was having a pint with another Sunderland Lad. The pub rapidly filled with Birmingham wrong uns so we got out as there was a dodgy atmosphere. Minutes later it went up as Newcastle Hooligans attacked the place and it had to be shut down for the day.

how? it wasnt normal fans being chased. a group of their youth lads got together and came out chanting and basically looking for some bother. as soon as our youth lads went for them they ran like fuck to the police and coaches.

i dont think ive ever seen sunderland attack innocent fans. im sure its happened but ive not seen it, lads i drink with wouldnt attack innocents

Huddersfield 1995 when loads of our lot were in the side stand.

After the match some SAFC 'fans' were walking behind a black Huddersfield supporter and asking him for a fight.

These threads inevitably throw up people who say,
"Well I've been going with my dad for years and never been involved in any trouble. We get on the local branch bus with our packed lunch and flask of ovaltine and always go to the club shop when we arrive at the ground. We've never once been threatened"

Erm sorry to say it but that's been my experience!

Been to Brum away on a Tues night when it was all standing and it was dodgy (let us all out together).

Been to home derby matches.

Loads away in the Midlands/Yorkshire, not as many in London.

Never been involved in any trouble. Never worn colours, always had a Midlands accent, usually have booze before and after.
