Been said before blah blah. Mine was West Ham parading the cup and we beat them and went up, then I walked home 5 miles to shields and went to school in the morning hyper.

I'm under 40 but fuck off, I'm posting this anyway.

One of my very first away games was as an 8 year old and it was against the filth at Sid James in 1979. My Dad used to take me to home games at a very early age and I remember the abject fear I felt when he told me on the morning of the game that I was going to 'their' ground. Even at that age I realised the hatred that was felt between the two and I have to say I was terrified before and after the game.

We were initially positioned in the Leazes End adjacent to the paddocks where the filth were situated and within the first few minutes my mates Dad caught a half wall brick which was lobbed from filth's end and was about to crash into my head.

We then moved more centrally to watch the 4-1 demolision ensue. You can actually see me on this clip, http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?sw...V4OgyXjFC&use_get_video_info=1&load_modules=1 when Rowell scores his first. I'm the little scruff going 'off it' in the Red Harrington jacket, just above the 'A' on the Andrews advertising hoarding, to the right of the goal.

I also witnessed the carnage that was the now infamous battle of Bath Lane. I have to say that I couldn't sleep for weeks after those scenes of out and out hatred and violence.

To make matters worse, a skunk, nastily 'squared up to me' in Central Station (remember I was only 8) and called me a lucky little , the next thing I can remember was my seeing him horizontal on the platform as my Dad had levelled him.

Is it any wonder this country is going to the dogs:-D

Did anyone else use to stand in the Roker or Fulwell Ends and then with about 15 minutes to go hurtle round to the Clock Stand paddocks?

We used to often do that.

Nee idea why looking back.

We ( and me' mates) did,
I think the reason was ' the Clock Stand was more expensive so we felt good going in the "Rich guys" end

I recall sittin in the posh seats against charlton, bowyer scored? big gurder in front of me face!

Arh Yes, the Friday night travel to London games. First stop for breakfast then into the all day pubs at the meat markets, sawdust on the floor

used to go to local club on Friday ( 7:00 to 10:30) - then to fish shop and coach would pick us up at midnight.
Went to War Museum before Fulham game then had a few bevvies
After game we walked around Soho ;
Junkie said to my mate " wanna score"
Aye we won 4-0" !!!!!!!!
:)

Yes I remember that well. I climbed the perimeter fence to escape the crush and loads of coppers were trying to push us back.

The press reported that we had been rioting. It was even lead story on national news that night.

It could so easily have been a disaster like Hillsborough.

Pretty sure it was caused when the police decided to let ticketless fans in.

They were hopelessly under prepared that day at York.

When we got there the queues outside were so bad they started letting people in through the exit by having a row of stewards and coppers just viewing the tickets, no stubs were removed and the tickets were then thrown back outside over the wall for others to use. Stupid thing to do in hindsight but this was pre Hillsbrough.

I was 19 year old and pretty fit and I am 6 foot tall, but I was pretty scared that day. It was absolutely mental and from the end behind the goal we could not see the first 10 yards of the pitch.

I vividly remember a group of fans pressed against the barrier to my Right and screaming at the police to get them out but the coppers just pushed them back.

I also remember the lad who climbed the floodlight pylon at the end and jumped off over the barrier onto the pitch missing the (spiked?) fence by about half an inch. He was lucky not to be killed:eek:

i have happy memories of taking 24 hours to go to mansfield and back in a mini

won 4-0 and had to sit behind bertschin, stuff two pies down in a british allcomers record

went to hull on a new years day, kick off approx 1045 for some unknown reason, got beat 3-2 and had a goal disallowed, despite the ball hitting the side netting and marks on the pitch showing the player was over the line, when he cleared it

the return from the above was made better when news of steve bull scoring 4 at st james park to stuff them

went to bradford for another 1-0 defeat, where the stdium clock had 86 mins on it but the fial whistle went. sure the ball didnt cross the line as well

went to liverpool, in a parka, on the day stanley cummins bulletted one into the top corner and clinched a 1-0 win. souness hit the bar from 30 yards despite the game supposedly being fixed to keep safc up by bob paisley
