Ross Stewart

Harsh as if he leaves considering how much time he's been injured during his contract. That said, why have they waited til the very last minute to extend his deal? Sounds like they were being clever and it's not worked out the way they expected it to.

If Stewart's advisors have challenged the date the extension was lodged, he clearly doesn't want to stick around or wants an improved deal.
The fact they didn’t use the last day of the standard season suggests they were waiting to see which league they were in and probably not intending to keep him if promoted.

Has to be

I don't really understand the explanation anyway. The 5 days had already expired before they got kicked out
So they were late whatever the outcome and he got called up to the WC with only a possible 1 year extension on the table, and they'd bin him if promoted anyway

Haway home lad

He’s way out of Hearts’ league. Best striker outside the prem when fit and there’s some encouraging signs he might be over the worst of his injury nightmare
They’ll be shopping in the same level as Rangers and Celtic with Tony Bloom money, no idea who he supports but that’s how it normally works up there.

This. They would have binned him off but now they haven't gone up and he's a good option for them again. Hard for them to play the loyalty card imo.

Because they didn't want to offer him a Premier League contract.

The lad owes them nothing. He fulfilled his contract and the club has done no more than fulfill it's obligations - they were ready to dump him at the last moment.
