Ross Stewart

I'd want to leave those cheating scumbags too. I have too much integrity to play for a cheat manager. Our strong sense of fairplay is what sets Britons apart from most other nations.

The kid had made no real money out of the game, was still injured and was offered a big signing on fee and a very large weekly wage. It was literally a no brainer for him and we did very well out of the deal too.
And we now live in an age when even if you are loyal to a club and play a key role in getting them promoted to the highest level the next thing you might hear is:

“you’ll never make the grade, collect your boots, you are off to Woolwich Town as we have bought the hottest talent in Uruguay to replace you”

Expecting loyalty from professional footballers is to be deluded about what you are watching on a football pitch these days 🤣

If they hadn’t cheated then they’d have played at Wembley.

Not Stewart’s fault.

Hope the lad finds a better club than that sack of shite it currently is

Aye at first I just put Celtic and Rangers but thought for free Hearts could do a lot worse than him. I know the players can’t exactly come out and admit they are pissed off but no way could they have watched that final and think aye we’d have got beaten so it’s all fine any.

lawyers will get rich from football again.

im sure we had to accept the deal and looking back we done pretty well from it. Like it’s been said he hadn’t made retirement money so I don’t blame him. Not like he went on strike or kicked up a massive issue from what I can remember.
He’s way out of Hearts’ league. Best striker outside the prem when fit and there’s some encouraging signs he might be over the worst of his injury nightmare

Normally I would say he owes them. They stuck by him and waited for his injuries to subside. The problem is that thanks to Southampton cheating he’s been denied a chance to play at the highest level so probably doesn’t feel any loyalty and wants to go after the best offer he can get. If he takes the option of 1 more year it’ll be at championship level and I reckon Southampton are going to have an awful time of the next year.
They had no choice but to stick by him, he was contracted. He owes them nowt and would frankly be mad to stay, they’ll be a very unhappy camp I imagine.

He’s in a decent position to be fair.

If he has a decent World Cup he might get other teams interested in him.

If not he will always have Southampton or teams north of the border.

Only risk for him is injury and then he’d be up shit creek.

Harsh as if he leaves considering how much time he's been injured during his contract. That said, why have they waited til the very last minute to extend his deal? Sounds like they were being clever and it's not worked out the way they expected it to.

If Stewart's advisors have challenged the date the extension was lodged, he clearly doesn't want to stick around or wants an improved deal.
