Ross Stewart

Hvwinkle

Reserve Squad
Dragan Šolak on Ross Stewart's future:

“We had to initiate the [one year] option up to five days after the last game of the season, and we were out of the five days when our final got cancelled.

"When we knew there was no last game, we immediately sent the notice of the extension, but his lawyers say that they're disagreeing with us.

"Ultimately, it's on Ross and his team to basically decide whether they want to stay or not. In my opinion, nobody would be better for Ross than us.

"We worked hard to allow him physically to show how good he is. He went from a guy who didn't play for two years to be invited to the World Cup team.

"I'm really proud of that. If he wants to try his luck somewhere else, I can't stop him, but I would love to have him back. We have made an effort to keep him."

He probably owes them tbf

if he can leave for free I imagine his agent is quickly phoning rangers, Celtic and Hearts seeing if they will match or better his Southampton deal and if they can’t he will sign that extension.

Wonder if they have any other players that are in the same situation. Not that I have sympathy for them.
maybe he'll be Shankland's replacement at Hearts plus he and others in Southampton squad will feel cheated by their management's antics at Southampton, he might have been a premiership player by now with all the promotion bonuses that'll have brought.

It could get messy. I am not sure I would be picking him up without some sound legal advice.

Normally I would say he owes them. They stuck by him and waited for his injuries to subside. The problem is that thanks to Southampton cheating he’s been denied a chance to play at the highest level so probably doesn’t feel any loyalty and wants to go after the best offer he can get. If he takes the option of 1 more year it’ll be at championship level and I reckon Southampton are going to have an awful time of the next year.

Couldn't wait to get away from us when he was pictured at the airport before any announcement of him leaving he will do the same to Southampton. He will be putting himself in the shop window at the world cup
The kid had made no real money out of the game, was still injured and was offered a big signing on fee and a very large weekly wage. It was literally a no brainer for him and we did very well out of the deal too.

Aye at first I just put Celtic and Rangers but thought for free Hearts could do a lot worse than him. I know the players can’t exactly come out and admit they are pissed off but no way could they have watched that final and think aye we’d have got beaten so it’s all fine any.

lawyers will get rich from football again.

im sure we had to accept the deal and looking back we done pretty well from it. Like it’s been said he hadn’t made retirement money so I don’t blame him. Not like he went on strike or kicked up a massive issue from what I can remember.
