RAWA May Collective Meeting Minutes

There won't be much benefit surely, and if our supporter numbers are the 'free' membership, then the only other type is 'paid' membership. And I can't see us getting anything much more with paid membership - it will be interesting to see what is on offer.

These two things were available free (no membership)- home tickets are available anyway even on general sale, as is season ticket waiting list access - at no cost. A paid membership to get these two things won't go down well.

Yup. The way of the world. 😀

Its all conjecture on my part, but with most clubs that have membership schemes there seems to be ticket priority windows for members and the more you pay the earlier you get offered tickets. Its a money grab because they can.

I guess that is just another phase.

I've looked at Crystal Palace's membership (small ground) and the gold membership @ £60 gives you priority access to ticket purchase for 72 hours. Regular membership at £25 doesn't give you this bonus.

Same for away tickets £60 let's you enter a ballot, £25 doesn't.

The regular £25 membership hardly gets a thing worth having, you need the gold membership really at £60pa.

I wonder what the interest in having a membership scheme here would be.

This is what the mags do but they don't offer a free version.

Leeds is even more expensive with a 2 tier priority access to ticket exchange and again no free version perks.

As has been said, most now do this as it's another way to milk fans wanting to get tickets. Free members probably won't get ticket access before those willing to pay the money for the paid memberships given that's what most will want at the end of the day.

I suppose to begin with free members may get hoyed in draws for shirts/merch/other small prizes, possibly even get non match discount/offers of some kind but it won't be much that's for sure, maybe a pink slice 🤪

Thinking to all of my mates who have attended this season, vast majority from outside of Sunderland and even the UK who have came to Sunderland for one or two home games , they won't be paying £60 for a membership on top of the ticket prices ..it's just not worth it if your only going to one or two games per season

It'll be interesting to see how many go for it

So its a bit like a loyalty scheme but instead of rewarding the most regular/loyal attendees it rewards those willing to pay the most.

Elements of modern football stink.

We had a chance to be different. To do things differently. Reward those fans who stuck by us rather than those who will pay the most. But under Linkedin Tom we are nothing but a number to rinse. Once we arent prepared to spend anymore move onto the next person.
Tbf Bruces regime seemed to want every last penny too.

Its a real shame.

IF no-one at all bought a membership (if offered), it would be meaningless and everyone could go on as now.

Not many want ballots for 'new' fans to jump over 'hard earned loyalty points fans' for away tickets.

All it would mean (if like the cpfc one) there would be a window to buy home tickets when they go on general sale. Currently, there doesnt seem to be an issue with buying home tickets.
(other than purchase history for some who always had their ticket bought for them).

You know loads would pay to queue jump n guarantee home games. Particularly cos the buying process is so chewy ie tues lunchtimes etc.

(St holder so doesnt effect me maybe).

Those who go to a lot of home games would probably have a season ticket.

I'm not sure too many would pay just to purchase early on the rare occasion they want home tickets, when it is reasonably easy to obtain a home ticket anyway. I may well be wrong 😀

(I do get that ticketing Tuesday isnt great for people in work though).

*******

Haven't seen too much positivity yet? Though obviously no-one knows if, when, how or what so far.

Ahhhhh. The old ballot malarkey rears its ugly head again
😂😂
Something which the closed shop gang would love until they'd have realised there'd be like 20 tickets up for grabs for c500 people

I wouldn't "worry" about new fans jumping over season travellers though.
Premier league away days will be very much an "Open shop" this coming season as the ones who have stuck by the club will be on a European tour.

So. Johnny come lately is welcome to Ipswich away on a Sunday
😊😊

^ cant remember fans like this back in the day.

Don't be mistaken in thinking the membership scheme wouldn't have happened if Bruce was still here.

Never said it wasnt going to.

Just feel, rightly or wrongly, that as fans we were better catered for as fans by Bruce on Board. That isnt saying hes immune from criticism as know he was also involved in some ticket issues this year. However, lose faith in the new bloke with every interview, comment or linkedin post.

Being a season ticket holder is still going to be the best way to get tickets for away/cup/European games.

This membership scheme is just going to create a phase that comes after Season Ticket but before general sale. Obviously will have to wait and see what it offers but can't imagine there'll be much benefit in an existing ST holder getting it.

Just a way to squeeze a bit more money out of non local/foreign fans who might be contemplating travelling over a game or non ST holders who want a better chance at a home ticket.

It's looking more like a tick box exercise.

The way to force it would be to disengage, but the likes of the senior supporters are never going to do that.
I see the seniors still get two representatives yet are an organisation of just 180 people.
As the demographic of the matchday crowd continues to “get older”, there needs to be something else in place for the senior supporters rather than the closed shop.

Its their love of tea and biscuits that keeps them involved.
