World Cup bonus money for us

I was reading the local paper down here , extolling the fact Middlesbrough would be getting half a million pounds off FIFA. This was due to them having 2 men in World Cup squads.

Didn’t show their working out though.

I assume we will be getting some of this free money.
Will boost our “war chest” to make some transfer swoops.

Anyone heard owt ,or is it a bit of Teesside baloney. ?

Aye, I think the rate is about £8-10k per player per day. The meter starts when they join the national squad and ends when they’re eliminated.

We’ve got 11 players involved. Assuming they’re in training for two weeks, then in the tournament for two weeks, that’s about £2.5m to £3m into the club.

Makes a much bigger difference to Championship sides really, but it all adds up.
