He had his stomach/intestine stent surgery last Friday, it went well.

Went in to see him yesterday (Saturday 30 May). He was looking good, even though it’s still a shock to see just how skinny he’s become. The ward started him on soup yesterday lunch time, and are monitoring how the stent is handling what he has started to eat. Has to stay on the AV electrolytes drip for another 24hrs (which he’s not happy about).

I’ve been asked to go in for 9:00am on Monday to speak with his consultant to find out what the next steps are, still need to find out when palliative care are intending to meet with us. I don’t know how many times I’ve stressed that I want to be there before anything discussed with my dad.

Had a chat with Macmillian at their information centre last week at the hospital, and from info they gave me stomach stents are designed to be used for six months before needing to be replaced.

Ah glad to hear. Still waiting for the moment you tell me he can eat a battered shark and a bucket of chips.

Meanwhile, while he is gathering his strength and you are keeping him company.....read the papers with him. Better still, maybe next week get him to do the quiz 😃
