Paul Heaton tour 2026

Beautiful south split years ago, there is a band with some of the members called the south.

Paul played with Jacqui Abbott for a few years but she sadly has had to take a step back from music for unknown reasons and we all hope she is ok
Saw the South at South Shields a few years back, the lead singer at the time (not lad who was in the band with Paul H) was not a singer, dreadful and I apologise for dissing him but not what I expected 🤷‍♂️

Every venue is a bloody arena unfortunately. I did expect that to be the case after his last tour sold so well but it means Liverpool or the Co-op for me and it will be gigs on three nights in the bounce with either option.

We went to the Co-op for James and it's shite. It's in the middle of nowhere (next to the Etihad) and the acoustics were garbage

She left the Beautiful South 26 year ago to look after her son. She rejoined Heaton in 2013 to resume her career, then left around 2 year ago for unspecified medical reasons(throat)

The reason Jacqui is currently not performing is near the end of this article from the horse's mouth.

I don't believe she is "ill" either, but she obviously isn't up to the rigours of recording and touring.
"While fans initially worried about severe health issues, Paul Heaton clarified that Abbott is not chronically ill"
As an aside, JA's son isn't a child anymore. He's a thirty year old man. I'm aware this still presents it's own set of problems and it's totally understandable why she stepped away when he was a 4yo.

Not read the article like but did Heaton really become a 'nobody'?
Do people who have fronted bands as big as The Housemartins and Beautiful South become nobodies? He just didn't do anything for a few years?

I followed him through those years on the 50-50 and Pedals and Pumps gigs and some of them were in pub car parks and pub gardens. Quite well attended but still not many. The Galasheils gig was no more than 70 people. However those albums released during the fallow years, The Cross Eyed Rambler and Acid Country, were as good as if not better than anything he had done before or since. Those years between 2007 and 2013 he would have had trouble getting arrested. It was only when JA returned in 2013 that suddenly Arena gigs were back on.

Ah fair play then mate. I loved both bands but he fell off my radar for years as he did for most I guess. But I still would have recognised him in an instant. I'd just call them fallow years rather than him being a nobody but get your points.

Missed the presale while at work but will get some tickets tomorrow.

Easily the artist I've seen the most times, well over 10 times across The Housemartins, TBS and his solo/duo career.

Bizarre take.

The sound in there is superb for a large venue and it's three stops on the tram or a 20 minute walk from the city centre.

I found it alright for springsteen as well. Walked the canal path there and back. Around a 20..25 easy walk straight from the pub to the arena.
