Juninho 96/97

Was around the time of leaving school n mates brother was given work experience at the Swallow Stockton.

Juninho was resident there ages n absolutely spot on with all staff.

Imagine a star being put in somewhere like that now 😂

He was magnificent.

But its completely disrespectful to a number of top drawer players that have represented Sunderland, Mags and Boro since.

Boro had Gaizka Mendieta more recently than that ffs.

On a slightly similar note and I may get a bit stick for this but there's an argument when Merson went to Middlesbrough the season after he was best player ever to play second tier football. Certainly in my time of watching footy from mid 80s onwards
He was outrageous in that league.

I think people have different standard for world class.

A world-class player is widely defined as someone who is consistently among the top 1-5 players globally at their specific position imo.

I'd have him up there with Phillips, Hoddle, Neves, Mitrovic (largely for one crazy season), and Le Fee.

Honorable mention for Bull, just cos I liked him when I was a kid. Played for Wolves, and was called Bull. What's not to like?

Reason Boro went down, see Kinkladze for City.
Both fantastic players, different styles but sort of player neutrals pay money to go watch
To suggest an individual player is the reason à club get/got relegated is utter pap
They were maybe overly relied upon

Remember him being a good player, but I was more fearful of Ravanelli, and Emerson played well against us. I wonder what they thought about playing alongside Stamp, Mustoe and Blackmore...

They were the catalyst', so to suggest they were the reason is entirely correct, anyone who says its pap has a poor understanding of the situation and limited in thinking.
