University student stabbed

So 85% didn't have a problem?
Put me in that 85%. I've done the Unconscious Bias training and despite my various criticisms of the policing that course was actually one of the best and most engaging I went on.

I never felt pressured to 'feel a certain way' and it was actually very enlightening on unconscious bias, different cultures etc...

Everyone is different I suppose and some will undoubtedly feel the way the 15% do.

It's not, however, a stick to beat the police with on this subject. Again, it's very good training and I have a massive issue with the lack of modernisation and the general nature of police training.
Maybes the focus should shift from diversity trainjng to first and trainjng and common sense training. Shocking and shows it's true what many of us suspected
Diversity training in the police is a very important tool

Not even quite sure what it entails myself. Costing money though.
There has long been a division (often self created by the police) through ignorance by the police of different cultures, ethnic minorities etc...

The training highlights the idea of unconscious bias but also I votes guest speakers to talk about their religion, and or culture and provides officers the knowledge to be able to break barriers between the themselves and those cultures. It allows for a more cohesive connection, so communities feel safer, heard, understood and integrated. Whilst giving officers the requisite knowledge of those differences.

It's brilliant in all honesty the training and well worth the money.

Tbf of all the people who might need training to be able to deal with different cultures, police would be high on the list.
Everyone is supposed to be treat the same so I don't understand this

So it's brainwashing with guest speaker types? What happened to just treating everyone the same.

No it's not brainwashing at all. Treating everyone the same, isn't the same as being taught about the nuances of different cultures and beliefs

I can't believe that's what you took away from what I said

From what I'm reading about this is the police office was repeatedly told by the lad who was dying in front of his very eyes that he'd been stabbed and couldn't breathe, but said officer continued to cuff him essentially letting him die?

Or have I got this wrong? Seems indefensible. Not one to follow the news so only recently heard about this through this thread.

ex portsmouth policewomen has gone into hiding as her name has been leaked online... thing is she left the policeforce 14 months before this all occurred and had nothing to do with it

Well it's time we moved away from the idea of different cultures in the UK - there's one culture the UK culture - multi-ethnic yes, but how on on earth do we accomodate some of the horrific cultures prevalent in the third world and why should we?
