Luca Stephenson about to join Bolton. Seen this the other day, Dundee Utd fans were raving about him. Good to see he is doing well

Fortunately (unfortunately for them) none of them have proved to be expensive loses. Pretty much all of them have struggled to make much of an impact in the game.
Yep. Hugill and Stephenson league one standard.

Robertson zero first team appearances at any standard and doesn't make match day squads for Brighton
Only McConnell that I can think of seems to show some promise making a handful of appearances for Liverpool and Ajax, but not many.

Hugill did at least hit a purple patch at the bottom of Scottish top flight but it's a really poor standard that.

I can't imagine any are worth much more than we got for them anyway. Albeit at the time they seemed very good prospects lost for peanuts

I think Hugill may have a decent chance. Has done really well at Killie and if he continues the likes of Rangers will come sniffing. But I do agree that there's not one who can say their move has worked for them. The tragedy is that, other than Greenwood, none of them were chasing a move

Depends how you look at it.

Greenwood ended up moving to Poland for €4m, when we got ~£500k.
Norwich trebled the fee they bought Mumba for when they sold him.
Josh Coburn went for £5m to Millwall after we released him

Sam Greenwood is now playing in Poland.

None of those who have left have had a better career than Dan Neil who stayed.

I've seen it reported as nearer €2M and that is a record transfer for the Polish club so no chance it would be €4M.

Coburn went to Boro as a 16 year old. Not sure if it was him or is than instigated the move?

Yeah Norwich made a bit on Mumba. Hardly a fortune, about half a million.

Robertson was under KLD think we got £1.5 for him, looked a talent in the U21s but there'a a big difference between that and the first team in the Premier League but wonder why he's not even been loaned out? Can understand why players were leaving when we looked a mess under Stewart but not sure it was the best decision to leave us when we were all about young players under KLD in the Championship.

KLD was in charge when Robertson went

Coburn was just just released wasn’t he so it’s not really the same thing. Could same we are 60m down because we didn’t offer Eze a deal if you are going down that road

That may have been different if they had stayed though, they'd have all have had the opportunity to play first team football much sooner. Instead they all got lost in academy systems at clubs who didn't care.
Dan Neil undoubtedly made the correct choice. Played plenty of first team games and grew with the club. Most of those who left ended up on loan and did nothing of note.

But there were lads who turned down moves who ended up doing nothing here as well. It isn’t a case of what works for A works for B

I didn't suggest it did.

But we were a good, proven club who gave kids a chance and nurtured them well. Those who left went to clubs who were just hovering up kids on the off chance they came good IMO.

Almost all took the wrong decision, they should have stayed ,its often the mothers who push instead of looking at the big picture, stars in their eyes.

Aye maybe. Although Coburn was released during the Stewart Donald cost cutting era, whereas we had Eze on trial as a Premier League club under Short/Moyes.

Robertson was injured for a lot of the season but came back after Xmas and captained their U21s to become PL2 champions. And they’ve just won the Hong Kong 7s. He is highly regarded.
