That's exactly the type of player he seems to me. Nice and neat and tidy without really doing a lot to influence. What did Garner go to Everton for? £9M with add ons potentially taking it to £15M. Garner also had the Man United tax as well so Hackney would be £12M all in maximum.

Everton got Garner for a bargain price though, he's a £40m player today.
I don't think Hackney is as good as Garner though and he's certainly not proved it.
£15-18m maybe with add-ons may be about right.
He's the type of player that will look much better in some teams than others. For us, he's be the Xhaka cover imo but without the bite, so would always need to be alongside Sadiki and Le Feè rather than Diarra imo.
Still capable of being an effective squad player but would be more suitable for other teams.

Risky game they're playing with him only having a year left. Obviously he's worth more than £10m, but Boro can't afford to lose him for nothing and need the money to reinvest.
I can honestly say, I've not seen enough of him, to hazard a guess as to whether or not he'd be a good signing for us, though he seems to be highly rated on Teesside, and by a fair few on here, so perhaps at the right price, he could well benefit from a move here, which would see him remain in the north east, and he'd surely benefit & improve his game, playing alongside Xhaka, Le Fee, Sadiki & Co,
I think he’s good like but I think there’s players who have had a better season than him this year in that league.

I think he'd be more likely to be playing alongside Garner. Everton aren't exactly flush for midfielders. 36 year old Idrissa Gueye made 25 appearances last season.

The only box Hackney would tick is the home grown one. I’m nkt excited if I’m honest and would much rather we brought that Delgado in from Boca Juniors as I’m into romance.
