Well done FIFA

“It would cost $2,000 for me to go to a group stage match with my wife and two kids. None of those games is worth that, and the knockout stages will cost significantly more.”
It’s disgraceful really. And you can see how quickly it ramps up with FIFA in charge. Several $000’s for each ticket (I assume same price for all ages), ~$100 for each person’s travel (again no price differential on the trains for young people), then food, beer and merchandise in the ground. I’m surprised it’s as low as $2,000 for a family of four to be honest. It’s greed, greed, greed, living up to the motto of FIFA - “We came, we saw, we fleeced”.

Sort of feels like there’ll be too many matches. Might be a bit more interesting once the group stages are over

there are 72 group games in total over the first 16 days. its total saturation

all of that football, and competition will be reduced from 48 to 32 teams. all of that, to get rid of the shittest 16 teams

then another 29 games to rattle it down from 32 to 1 (the winner)

the first 16 days is a total farce. and pretty pointless.

the next 21 days is the knockouts where we might actually see some decent football and some drama

Dont think the stir from the 2015 fiasco has completely disappeared. Are the US courts now going after them for inflating ticket prices and other dodgy practices.

These mega tournaments might be good for fans, but the money involved certainly encourages corruption and dodgy practices, look no further than Russia 2018, and Qatar 2022
Its FiFA and Infantino and his cronies who need looking at.🔬🔬🔬 The whole show is not fit for its purpose now, the magic has gone from Jule's Rimmét

Yes there’s no jeopardy I can see.
Imagine if we lost to Croatia then drew with Ghana…we’d probably still be ok if we beat Panama.
Can see the “big teams” resting players and taking it easy early on

Why's it costing so much money? I've got a mate who's going to see three England matches and he's not paying anywhere near $2k per ticket.
I paid $180 for all 3 Scotland games category 4., FIFA released 400 tickets at $ 60 for each and every game to be distributed by all Football associations taking part.My Mrs paid $660 for the same three games category 3 as she didn't have enough points to be eligible for the cheaper tickets.

Due to reading this thread I thought I'd take a look at pricing for Haiti 🇭🇹 vs Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. £369 for the very cheapest seat. The most expensive, which was corporate seating...£74k. Yes that's £74,000!!! for 1 ticket.

I decided to look in Mexico 🇲🇽 and found Sweden 🇸🇪 vs Tunisia 🇹🇳 playing in Monterry. Cheapest ticket...£256. In a city where the average monthly salary is sub £1500.

Now considering flights too are about £700 to Boston and hotels from £200 a night, even if I flew on Friday and came straight back on Sunday after the game it would be around £2k MINIMUM to go to one game once you factor in food, transport to the game, beer, travel to Heathrow etc. How are normal fans supposed to afford that? I spent 10days in Germany for WC 2006 and didn't spend anywhere near that, total. And who realistically would want to go and then come straight back with the travel and jet lag involved?

Flights to Monterry were even more expensive but hotels were a bit cheaper and I'd imagine the living costs would be lower than USA.

This entire WC has been a complete and utter disaster from the get go for anyone but the über wealthy, sponsors and the Trump administration. FIFA is completely unfit for purpose and I'd love to see a breakaway to try and curb its power.
