First time I heard him speak I got this impression. That Tom Burwell sounds like a knacker.
So....AI chatbots. I really, really do not trust this bloke one bit."TB praised staff in the ticket office, acknowledging the magnificent job they do, but the abuse given tothese staff by some fans is wholly unacceptable and this must be addressed. Elements of ticketing customer service will be digitised, but good service will come first. The club will assess how best to support people who need assistance, there will always be a human option. During the summer there will be a shift from Ticket Office support to Customer Service supported by technology."
Will be plenty to go to next year. That is the general direction of PL travel.
Clubs (generically) do not want to be discounting their main product (match tickets) for season tickets, when there's a queue of people who can't get in. Those who are only going once or twice a season are more likely to buy a membership, a shirt, food inside the ground etc. as you point out.
Mags have found this given some of the laughable off-site hospitality experiences they've been flogging, but it sharp came back to bite them on the arse seeing how tickets were readily available via resale for their last couple of home games when the form went off a cliff.
It's also a tightrope for any club as the second relegation happens, and tickets are more easily available, you've pissed off a core of supporters.
Side point but 'FG would like to kick start the atmosphere at the start of the second half and wondered if singing a newsong at the end of half-time would develop the atmosphere.' - I hope to God they've learned from the negative reaction to playing Can't Help Falling in Love, a couple of times at the start of the second half.
Also not discussed but I wish they would consider putting maybe 50 to 100 of the away ticket allocation (so ~3% for most games) into a ballot to give younger fans a chance of an away day. I was fortunate to be able to take my lad to the Everton cup game but odds are we won't get to another for at least a couple of years.
My season ticket is in a section that is getting safe standing next season, I was not informed before renewal."Paul Kingsmore (PK) confirmed that 2,500 season ticket holders in the new safe standing area, in the South West Corner, were informed during the renewal process of their options to stay or move to a seated area."
Were they actually informed, and if so, did they really have any option to move given season tickets were sold out? (minus the secretive waiting list season tickets).
Proper Martin Bain, main character syndrome vibes off him. Absolute narcissist.
He's probably gone soon.So....AI chatbots. I really, really do not trust this bloke one bit.
It was 100% highlighted on the stadium plan when renewing my season ticket - I posted the screenshots on one of the renewal threads at the timeMy season ticket is in a section that is getting safe standing next season, I was not informed before renewal.
I’m not arsed like but not the point.
I remember it been mentioned on the renewal site too , sure we had a thread about itIt was 100% highlighted on the stadium plan when renewing my season ticket - I posted the screenshots on one of the renewal threads at the time

Safe Standing extension
Taken from the Sunderland Website Ahead of the 2026-27 season, we will be extending and enhancing the safe standing provision across the Stadium of Light. Following feedback from the Sports Grounds Safety Authority, alongside results from our 2024-25 supporter survey, we are introducing...www.readytogo.net
Hi @Becs just read the document and the mention of phase 3 for season tickets. Does that mean there are still season tickets potentially going to be on sale for next season or does it mean for the season after?
CEO of Bia Sports Group? He ain't going anywhere while KLD is around. He's probably gone soon.
Who's TB? He sounds like he loves LinkedIn
He's already confirmed that he's interim and actively recruiting for his replacement.CEO of Bia Sports Group? He ain't going anywhere while KLD is around.
Hopefully doesn't become permanentTom Burwell - he's the interim CEO.
Greag post.Just a thought having read it.
TB reaffirmed his commitment to engage with fans and the collective
Hes only interim and only been in role a short while. In that time weve had the Newcastle ticket fiasco, the season ticket and corporate downgrade problems, the ongoing bans of multiple fans for ticket issues, a podcast talking about other clubs ticket offices/Michael Ball and Im sure many other issues. The lack of engagement with fans about these was staggering. Good start Tom. Was he questioned about interim role and news on interviews considering said in podcast he was interviewing that afternoon? Looks increasingly like its not a short term interim role.
Kingsmore confirmed that 2,500 season ticket holders in the new safe standing area, in the SWC, were informed during the renewal process of their options to stay or move to a seated area.
Emails were received on 25th May. Long after renewal process.
The club is currently recruiting for a Head of Academy
The club announced Robin Nicholls leaving on 17th Dec 2025. Why still looking recruiting now?
Zaf Iqbal (ZI) asked about the LED boards in the East Stand returning to their original position. Ghisolfi will see what will happen with this.
Is this regarding move pre Coventry? It helps team. How many people does this effect? More or less than those affected by P ban and the travel issues this will cause?
Burwell is developing a culture of high performance across the club; on and off the pitch, with heart and humility, the club can represent Sunderland.
Off the pitch. High performance? Really? Look at the ticketing issues from scum (a) up to and including season ticket renewals/corporate downgrading and so on.
TB thanked fan groups for bringing ticketing cases to the club’s attention. The initial cases brought by the Red and White Army have been resolved. Additional cases brought by the new deadline of Monday 11 May, 12:00 pm, have been contacted. Some have been referred to the review panel. TB acknowledged service comes first, that more consultation is required before any fundamental changes to policy are made.
The club is addressing the issue of fans whose tickets were rescinded for the Newcastle United away fixture. Fans with a legitimate entitlement to a ticket will be contacted by the club.
Laughable. We all know of one person not sorted out & there are others banned from away games to. The Newcastle 65 situation was handled disgracefully. People who had every right to attend having tickets taken off them and then allowed to reapply. For the biggest away game of the season. For the game that every mile covered in the bad days counted towards. This needed a full minuted discussion. Why taken then? Who was responsible for decision? Why was it allowed! Why able to reapply? Why attempts to resolve pre game ignored? And so on. Not all people have been contacted.
TB praised staff in the ticket office, acknowledging the magnificent job they do, but the abuse given to these staff by some fans is wholly unacceptable and this must be addressed. Elements of ticketing
customer service will be digitised, but good service will come first. The club will assess how best to support people who need assistance, there will always be a human option. During the summer there will be a shift from Ticket Office support to Customer Service supported by technology.
This is equally laughable. As I said on another thread find one person who praises ticket office and most fans will find 10 who dont. Perfect chance to address the comments about other clubs ticket offices opened on non matchdays as Linkedin Tom claimed in podcast. Unwarranted abuse is not nice and shouldnt happen but can happen and whilst directed at an individual (perhaps unfairly) it is more than likely at the whole ticketing operation.
SW is considering a non-segregation match next season.
Ridiculous. Just an ego boost to say we have done it. Almost like asking for incidents so can implement new measures. This isnt rugby.
The lack of draught beer in Quinn’s Bar (MB) is a supplier issue that the club is trying to address (PK).
How many people does this affect really? If think of issues not even covered and this finds its way in.
FG would like to kick start the atmosphere at the start of the second half and wondered if singing a new song at the end of half-time would develop the atmosphere.
Weve actually scored a few goals shortly after HT suggesting it doesnt really negatively impact on performance. Speed up concourse service and many people would return quicker.
Other areas not even covered or at least minuted Id have been interested in knowing
* P and his ban
* Opening doors at HT to let people smoke and sort overcrowding underneath
* Away ticket phases
* Number of people per loyal point number grouping (5-10s) to allow people to plan when to buy.
* Lateness of tickets going onsale
* Delays with resale option going up for home games and a complete lack of consistency
* Any plans to allow 5% of away tickets go to 16-18 yo only (highest loyalty points within that group. To give them chance to build points as too young to go before/reliant on family.
* Know plenty on here would like something like the international fans get for fans day. Tour of AoL etc..
Sure plenty of others.
Who will likely end up reporting into Tom!He's already confirmed that he's interim and actively recruiting for his replacement.
Did you have an option to move seat to a non standing area like PK stated? It was 100% highlighted on the stadium plan when renewing my season ticket - I posted the screenshots on one of the renewal threads at the time
