Hayden Hackney

Being linked with Man Utd, Spurs, Palace, Leeds, Forest among others. Talk of a price tag exceeding 30 million.

Great championship player no doubt, but am I missing something here?

He's 24 in a few weeks time since is hardly an up and coming youngster. I don't think I've seen hype like this since Adam Wharton
He looks bang average to me

30m is over the top as it’s a gamble and more importantly he has 1 year left on his deal. But he will be worth a gamble at a decent price for someone

Ive not seen enough of him tbh. Unsure if the hype is justified or whether overall quality was just down last year in the championship. At the end of the day though hes a home grown player and one of the better players in the division so immediately that probably puts him at around 20m

Don't think he'll particularly stand out at PL level, and not for 30m.

Reminds me or that Harry Winks when at Spurs. Everyone saying he was a touch of class when he's was nothing but average.

Not even sure how they get 30m with only a year on his contract? That would mean his value would be somewhere around 40/50m if he had 2 or 3 yr left.....bollocks.

The Man Utd link to me looks a lazy one due to Carrick's boro connection. If they're spending £30m on a midfielder, they're getting better than Hayden Hackney.

I can see someone like a Forest looking at him if they know they're going to lose anderson. It could be a cheaper replacement who has potential to play a similar role. Would be a gamble though given he's never kicked a ball in the premier league at 24 year old

I suspect they're trying to get a bidding war going to drive the price up. Clubs are far too clever for that though.

I can see where this is going to go. PL sides will be sitting tight for as long as possible knowing the closer it gets to deadline day the more likely boro are to slash the price. If the window closes and he's still at Boro he will go for nothing - they can't risk that, and everyone else knows it.

I wouldn't be against us joining the race late in the window, i'd take him for £15m ish. That might seem low now, but on deadline day it's £15m or potentially nothing, Boro might just take it

I don't rate him tbh.

Watched Boro a few times last season and he was wanting too much time on the ball, as a result, he'd lose it and then follow up with a very rash foul!
Yeah,.he can ping a pass every now and then, but I think he'd only get caught out even more in the PL and would have to be subbed regularly.

I think our recruitment team can do a lot better than him tbh.

He is an excellent player. If you don't watch him every week, his stats more than back it up.

20m in todays market is reasonable. We are hoping that multiple clubs bid for him and drive the price up.

Understand his preference is Everton of the teams linked. Not so keen on a move to London
