Southampton spying compendium thread

Such a bitter statement. Get fucked

"We accept that the club breached the relevant regulations and we recognise that the disciplinary bodies were entitled to conclude that proof of sporting advantage was not necessary in order to establish a serious offence.

"Despite this, we are happy with the way in which we admitted the charges and offered our full cooperation and honesty once the formal EFL investigation process had started."

"What is harder to accept is that similar scrutiny does not appear to have been applied to the composition of the disciplinary panel itself, given the apparent historic and indirect connections of two panel members to Middlesbrough.

"While those connections do not by themselves prove bias, they plainly raise legitimate questions about consistency, perception and the standards of independence expected in proceedings of this magnitude.

"This case has ultimately been decided on the basis that breach and attempted breach were enough, regardless of whether any sporting benefit was actually obtained.

"In fact, at no stage was there any finding that the club actually obtained any sporting advantage as a result of the conduct in question. That is a severe interpretation but one the disciplinary authorities were entitled to adopt under the rules as written.
“No sporting advantage” is their defence! They’ve got hold of the wrong end of the wrong stick there. Are they forrin? Are they making excuses in a second language? That’s like the great train robbers ambushing the earlier train and expecting nowt to be said! Being a shite at yer job is not the point you daft bastards.

"The club is also concerned by the weight placed on assertions that junior staff were pressurised into involvement, when some of the most serious allegations appear not to have been supported by direct evidence.
The EFL should do that think that parents did when their kids are being lippy.

Parent:You’re grounded for a week
Kid:That’s so unfair…
Parent: 2 weeks
Kid: omg I hate you!
Parent: 3 weeks, I can do this all night but I would be quiet now if I were you

imagine a burglars Defence being “aye but I didn’t actually manage to sell any of the stuff that I nicked so arresting me seems unfair”

TBF he made the silly mistake of getting caught
With all the technical gizmos available I am gobsmacked they have used a football Clouseau to do this work
No sympathy for him but the pressure and fine margins mean there are very lengths à head coach won’t go to for sake of getting an edge

That just stinks.

Any sympathy or goodwill they may have got from this process is gone with a prickly and awkward statement like that.

Edit: the only way out of this to preserves any face at all is surely to sack the manager and start clean next season. I'm actually shocked he's not gone yet.

Just been listening to their owner on BBC. He basically said the punishment was ridiculously excessive for what they had done and the manager isn't being sacked as he deserves a second chance. WTF?

The opposition DJs should be playing spy themed songs before the game. James Bond theme tunes, I Am A Spy In The House Of Love, I Spy For The FBI etc etc
Choon ..
Stick in Agent Double 0 Soul and Theme from the Man From Uncle .
Imagine if they were coming here , they'd be dog meat 😊

No chance he didn't know. He knows if he doesn't back Eckhart then he has no incentive not to drop him in it as well. Didn't hear much contrition in that interview mind, they couldn't give a toss beyond the fact they got caught.

Aye, just heard the same.

Sticking with the 'he didn't know he shouldn't spy on opposition teams' line, too, like he's a toddler.

Even if that was true (which i very much doubt) ignorance has never been a defence. It is up to you to make sure any laws/rules aren't being broken before you do them.

Absolutely ridiculous that he has has been found to have cheated and isn't being sacked.

What a shit statement. Rotten club

"We admit we cheated, then lied, then lied again in a written submission, then admitted to all the stuff we were caught doing - therefore we'd like to call into question the honesty and personal integrity of the panel that only existed because we cheated" is quite a flex...

When you're rolling around in the mud in your best clobber, I don't think diving into a pile of horse shit is the way to go.

I'm not sure they've done with with the best advice available.
