Max Power

Signing leadbitter was odd now looking back. No legs at all
Well no legs between him, Power or McGeouch.
I think the likes of Power, Maguire and Wyke were too concerned with playing the daft lad even though they were perfectly capable on the pitch.

I wouldn’t accuse Power or Wyke of being daft lads. Just limited footballers.

Maguire’s entire personality is based around being a bit daft so you can’t change that. And to be honest, he was one of only 2 players (McGeady being the other) that brought any f***ing fun or enjoyment to those 4 years in League 1.

Daft lad or not, he scored 1 in 5 while playing on the wing or as an attacking midfielder, which is a good record. Most of them screamers.

Things changed for us once we became quicker, more energetic and had Ross Stewart up front. We moved the ball forward much quicker in the promotion year than we did in the first 3.

Cattermole, honeyman, Onien that first season too. Can tell we had very little squad planning in place when they took ownership. Then to add dobson the following season

To be fair to Honeyman, he was a bit more dynamic than the others. But aye, was a strangely familiar profile among most of our midfield at the time.

Really weird recruitment. No wonder it took us so long to get out the division. 3 years of giving the ball to McGeady and Maguire and hoping for the best.

He seemed better the season before in the championship, seemed to play much more within himself in League 1.

Having zero scouts and a manager with no knowledge of those leagues was a huge issue, and how we ended up with players that just didnt suit. Or thats how I saw it

I still think that signing could have worked out better, came in to be the L1 version of what Xhaka is now but we didn't have the L1 version of Sadiki who provides the legs in midfield, somehow we had midfielders that were just as or if not slower than Leadbitter.

On its own it made complete sense, but having the players we already had in that position it was ill thought out, like so many decisions under Donald

Chris Maguire and Aidem Mcgeady couldn't give a shite man. When they wanted to turn it on tou could see that they were both far too talented to be anywhere near the third division, but Maguire spent most of his career there and McGeady couldn't be arsed either, hence us being stuck down there for so long.

McGeady was easily one of our top performers in League One. He was brilliant at Wembley against Portsmouth. He was the only one who turned up second half.

I'd tend to agree for the most part, and he was also the only decent pkayer during the championship debacle. He was leagues above everyone else in that division - but then there were times when we were crying out for his creativity and he'd do nowt. I suppose when you're the only player who can play and there are two banks of 5 defenders ahead of you every week, it must be a bit galling.
