Coventry, Ipswich and Hull

What chance do you think that any side starts with their current squad?

We're not certainties to go back down. Lampard took us from 2 points out of the relegation zone in November to a playoff place. Then after his first pre season we played like a different side. We had a wobble mid season, but that was after a virus ripped through our squad, injuries to our main players and also having suspensions to our defence all at the same time. At one point we couldn't even fill the bench, yet we still had MVE being sick on the touchline but still having to play him.

Once we had players fit again we finished 11W 3D 1 L in the last 15 games. The only defeat was against......Southampton 😆

We play a style that could well be OK in the Prem. We have several players that score goals from 25 to 30 yards quite frequently. We had 5 players on 10 league goals or more. We are at our best playing on the counter attack.

I trust Lampard to bring in who we need. 17th place would be sufficient 😃
Deluded. Your style needs to change massively to have any chance.

You have players that can peform well in the premiership as long as you buy some top quality to play alongside them. The likes of Hume, Ballard, Isidor, Rigg have all done well to varying degrees but only becuase of signing some Champions League quality players in Xhaka, Mukiele, Reinaldo, Alderete, Le Fee.
If you think your current squad will stay up withoiut siginficant investment you are wrong. Your quality players such as Rudoni need far better around them to flourish.

That's exactly how we beat you last May.
The expectations of Coventry fans are unjustifiably jaunty. En masse, you overstate the quality of your squad.

We'll think youre dead, but you'll sail away on a wave of mutilation.
Kudos for the Pixies reference :D

I don’t even think think they’re deluded…just right arrogant twats. Lampard is an OK manager, no more than that, but these fuckers don’t even realise LeBris schooled him. It doesn’t bode well for them that the first thing they’re thinking about is issuing their current squad new contracts. They go on about Rudoni as if he’s the son of Pele…but he’s what 26, 27? And never played in the top flight. That stat alone would suggest he’s not all that, he may not make the step up.

I really can’t stand them, Mags of the midlands, shit support when they were lower down. Hope they go back to whence they came. 😊

I had a look through their last starting 11 mate on the final day other than Ese on loan from Palace.

Every other player will be at least 26 and most older. The lad from Brentford is their standout in top flight experience.

But their supposed better players are 27/28 not often players that age make the step up.

Their biggest issue is likely to be the manager. He isn’t tactically astute and far too emotional.

Coventry that is. Ipswich might do alright second time around and Hull will be cannon fodder.

You were only 10 points from the play offs with 30 game to play when Lampard took over, with a squad that usually finished in or around the play offs usually. It’s not the miracle that Coventry fans like to make out.

As it stands you are ,unless you add significantly to your squad
You are nowhere near as good as Leeds or Burnley a year ago.

All the noise coming out of Coventry is that mostly they will give the team a chance to step up.We will see I guess

Forget about the season just gone the PL is brutal and will punish you if you play the same way as the season just ended

They’ll not attract the players we did. Xhaka, Mukiele etc.
Agree but let's not be as arrogant as them up the road. It's unbecoming🤨
It all depends who they are able to buy . Their manager has already stated they need to follow our model . So that's a good start . After all the target is 17th not European qualification .
I'm sure Hull fans feel as most us did ;that that is the object of the exercise.

 Anything but!

As it stands all of the promoted clubs are going back to the championship. Their business between the transfer window opening and closing is what may give them some hope, although the signals so far are not promising.

If Coventry give their current squad the chance to step up, as their owner suggests, they'll be breaking Derbys record. Their squad is significantly worse than both Leeds and Burnley who went up, both spent £100m+ on some good players and still both struggled for large parts of last season. Largely the same squad that finished miles behind us the season before, despite Regis giving up on the last 7 games of the season and beating them in the playoffs - and of that team only really Ballard and Hume, and to a lesser extent Isidor, have made any impact on the PL at all, a couple of bit-part players in Rigg, Mayenda and Onien but that's all they've been too.

Like the other 2 teams, they are a million miles away from the level required and need a whole new team to stay up (as we did), and I don't hear anything from any of the three suggesting that the level of overhaul required is going to happen.

That's it, I'm not renewing my ST now ;)
It will be interesting to see if any of the 3 promoted clubs invest heavily or just take the jackpot of EPL money and use some of it to invest in the championship, in other words join with Burnley in the merry-go-round after relegation. I think one of them may beat the odds and stay up. Ipswich would be my bet.

It will be interesting to see how the stadium ownership changes things. I'm sure a bit of money lost on 'free' season tickets will be balanced out by the increasing number of events at the CBS.

I'm not expert on the current rules but it's clear Doug King sees the stadium as something that might help level the playing field.

Hard to know. There's clearly a good base of a squad if assume include Onyeka and Rushworth sign.

I've been adamant that we won't spend big but Doug King is very good at pulling out surprises.
Getting the stadium sorted out was huge for you lot. So much money wasted over the years by Sisu, and even the fact that you didn't make anything off food and drink must have been massive. This is the best thing Doug's done imo.

ON the player side - I do worry that you might end up missing out on Rushworth if Brighton decide to sell Verburggen - you want to hope he has a shit World Cup ;)

Oh, and Frank going to Palace.Fulham etc is still a risk.
I think we were 4th favourites to go down before we qualified for Europe.
Arent we still fourth faves to go down??
