Overweight Cricketers

Turner the Cat

Midfield
I was at Merchant Taylors today for Middlesex vs Hampshire.

Adam Rossington is chunky to say the least. I remember seeing him a couple of years ago playing for Essex and thinking he was big.

Strange given the advances in fitness and training.

Former and current player nominees welcome here.

Ps those that moan about Durham as a T20 side... Middlesex are awful. Something like 18 wins in last 76 games.

I was watching the game on Sky yesterday and thought the same thing about Rossington.

He's been around for quite a few years too.

There have been plenty of porkers in the past - Colin Milburn, Mike Procter, Ian Botham...

...and who can forget Dwane Leverock?

When Northants won the T20 blast back in 2016, beating Durham in the final they had a few porkies in their side. Rossington was opening with Levi, Kleinveldt with the ball.

When Durham played Leics in the final game of the 1999 season (the last season before the Championship split into two Divisions) Sky covered the game at Grace Road. One of the commentators (may have been Bob Willis) observed that it appeared Durham's John Morris had 'swallowed a bear'.

Last season our very own Haribo Kid appeared to be carrying on that tradition.

The ultimate Fatty Team.

That the spinner who played for Bermuda, caught a mental catch, like a leaping free Willy

Rehan Ahmed looked to be carrying a bit in the latest Lions game. KP will be on X any minute stating that he will have learnt more eating cheeseburgers with Kuldeep Yadav than he would have playing County Championship cricket.
