How am I being obtuse? I listed 16 players to fit with the ops statement. And then clearly said that figure didnt include rigg even though I thought he should be included. Whats obtuse about that?

You then said you disagreed with that and then proceeded to agree with it. Im not the one being obtuse. Youre contradicting yourself.

That wouldnt affect the own academy home grown. If its a third choice though we could name joe Cowan if hes not going out on loan and achieve the same thing if we have two other keepers named.

I didn't fully consider this to be fair. We're essentially looking at a 21 man Europa League Squad with no academy players.

Rigg doesn't count because he's under 21 anyway so doesn't need to be registered. We could use Patto and make him the 22nd man, allowing us to leave Elborg out and fit in an extra foreign outfield player.

Are O'Nien, Ballard, Mundle (and Moore) our only English homegrown, assuming Cirkin leaves?

That means we're currently leaving 4 SAFC and 1 English homegrown spot open, so we'd only be able to have a 20/21 man squad if we keep Elborg as number 2.

In this context, Hendo would be a great addition this summer. Massive experience, a leader on the pitch when we need to rest Xhaka, he's had a good season and of course is Sunderland home grown. I can't think of anyone else (Pickford aside) who could come in and fill one of those spots.

Theres a strong rumour that if Patterson leaves we will try and sign Ben Wilson from Coventry. As backup keeper. Hes certainly competent enough to not be a disaster

I wouldnt be surprised to see Tutierov named tbh. I dont think hes quite good enough but he isnt so far away hed be a disgrace.
