If the lad retired now still a great career. Without them saying sounds like cannabis in the car legal where he's at and nothing in his system.

Not my favourite player but he's done loads for charity throughout his career hope he sorts it out.
Cannabis is class B he was caught with class C.

At least 12 months ban for refusing to give a sample.

You can have mental health problems and not drug drive. There’s no excuse.
Would opinions change if he crashed into another car and injured/killed someone rather than him crashing into the barriers on the M3 motorway?

He's done well to hit the barriers going along here but maybe his car was the issue rather than (speculating here) that he was speeding and/or just drifted wide on the slow bend with barriers on the left. Time will tell I suppose but hopefully it's a wake up call and he gets himself sorted.

Sorry like but if he thinks he's had a couple of tough years he's living in a f***ing dream world. He's a multi millionaire. People have had cancer, been made redundant, lost their house and all kinds of other real shit. The bloke has had a dip in his career. Big deal.

Millionaires are all fine.

Being in a position of wealth does not mean you cannot suffer mental health you can’t chose it.

Spoken like someone who hasn't been through consistent mental health issues.

Money doesn't buy happiness and the stress and pressure on high level athletes is often underestimated. They are still human, they can still suffer from depression, sorrow and addiction.
Funnily enough was talking to a mate about it during the penalty shootout tonight... I told him I'd hate my mistakes to be under that scrutiny a million times more than they normally are . They can't hide and social media is massive!

Did they endanger other people on the road with their actions? Would you be OK and still think the same if he'd crashed into your friend/relative who just so happened to be on the same part of the motorway instead of a barrier?

I think he needs to realise he's been fortunate that it's just the car that's been damaged and not himself or anyone else.

Both things can be true:
  • It is abhorrent to drive under the influence and he could have seriously injured or killed someone. There is no excusing this.
  • He is a human being going through a tough time in one of the most pressure inducing careers and is under the scrutiny of a vicious media circus that's been after him since he was a teenager who are eager to twist the knife. He needs support.

He needs to go get support rather than drive like a bellend and use it as justification

This. However, what I don't understand is someone saying he hasn't had cancer, or being made redundant, so should just get on with it.
