The Final Years Of Roker Park (Mini-Documentary)

Good evening all. This might interest a few. A little labour of love I’ve put together over the last few weeks. A short video about the last season of Roker Park. All the more sweeter now that Murray’s vision of the SOL hosting European football is finally going to be realised!

I used to go down to watch RP getting demolished. Don't know why cos it just made me well up every single time.
Thanks but I can't watch the old girl being torn down again
Same.

The one time I saw it being demolished I was only 4 and couldn’t understand why adults were stood at the fence crying. It was a strange experience seeing so many people emotional looking at essentially rubble

I got a bunch of rubble from when it was demolished but it's like going to a funeral home to say goodbye to a loved one, it's not how you want to remember it.

Took my son to a couple of games in the last season just so he could say he'd been to Roker Park (he was 5). Wished I'd got one of those old wooden clock stand seats as a memento. Good to see the photo of your dad in the video from back then.

Aww good watch but sad

Awful watching them stands collapse like that

Wish they'd just left it to rot away instead tbh. Would have become an ancient monument

Think Feethams did for a while and you could wander through it or vandalise it

Really enjoyed that, got a bit emotional at seeing the ground taken down, not sure why, also, can't believe how old I am.

Oh, and that turquoise shirt was outstanding, far better than any of the last season's shirts.

Always be gutted I never went in all its glory. First game with my dad was the season after the roker came down 😔 albeit I was about 6 at the time. Would love to have seen it packed with 60k plus in the 50’s

Canny that. I had to skip forward when they started pulling it down. Couldn't bear to watch that. It's like watching a very close member of the family slip away. Unbearable.
