Be very very surprised if there’s any French team apart from PSG pay anywhere near the wages we do.
Unless it’s an elite player ( ie early 20’s and an international,and even then..) such players will be looking at money first. Who can blame them?

Marseille also sold two of their best young players last season to Roma and Sassuolo so guessing they have money problems like most in that league.
