Ghisolfi talk.

They’ve always had plans, it’s what makes me laugh when I see us forth favs to go down. As if we’re not going to improve the squad. This is plan a they’ll be looking at players we may not have been able to attract before hand.
Agreed the other lazy view will be mis associating our lack of European experience as a club and that of a number of our players.

This isn’t a championship squad heading off for its first European experiences we have over 200 European appearances across about 11 of our current squad, never mind who we might bring in.

As ever it’s lazy journalism….fuck them, love proving them all wrong

We need more like 7-8 given a few will go
Depends who goes. The likes of Jones, Masuaku, Dan Neil, Seelt, Ba, Rusyn, Hemir etc don't really need replacing as they've contributed essentially nothing this season.

But the issue will be if we lose Roefs, or Sadiki, or someone vital. They will obviously have to be replaced. Even if someone like Cirkin goes - given that Masuaku has no future here - we'll have to do something there. I know Hume can player LB as well but, but we'll need the numbers. We'd need another option there.

Realistically, I think we probably want at least:

LB (or Cirkin)
RB/CB (or Geertruida)
CM (Xhaka sub option)
RW (upgrade on Traore)
CF (Mayenda/Isidor replacement)

Then if other first-team-involved players leave you have to address that as well of course. We're probably going to play at least 10 games in the Europa League next season, plus domestic cup games, so plenty of game time for a slightly larger squad.

They won’t or don’t want to give us much credit
With the whole club so together we are going to be hard to ignore for much longer
I’m fully expecting a concocted “bombshell “ story to try and upset our momentum any day now …in order to try and create negativity
I think even Granit looked a bit taken aback at the scenes at the weekend
He looked genuinely stunned at the fan base reaction to Europe

20m for Mayenda 😂😂😂
I'd say 10-15m is very realistic mind. He's still an exciting talent, one that got 15 G/A's at 19 in the championship. We have seen how many players go from there for daft money. Add his couple of pl goals onto that now as well.

Looking at Ghisolfi's record at previous clubs where he was sporting director and how he managed their European campaigns vs league form :
2024/25 - Roma - Europa League R16 - 5th in Series A
2022/23 - Nice - Europa Conference QF - 9th in Ligue 9
How much of it was down to his signings and also the standard of those leagues compared to the PL is maybe another matter but at least he's faced those scenarios before

Narrowing the squad to a current 16 is tricky. It's really quite astonishing how well some of our 'championship' players have done in the PL this year. We still aren't absolutely clear on some of the others yet (Cirkin, Mayenda, Mundle, Abdullahi). S'pose time will tell.

As long as one has the stature, experience etc etc of Xhaka
À serious injury to him and we are Donald ducked…royally!
We need someone like Stones. Versatile across the back and in MF but who wouldn’t expect to be available and/or play 38 games and a full 90 minutes.
Here’s hoping
if he play as a CAM like Messi style. i can see him good in there if he improve his passing, vision. that where he is lacking i think.

I'm glad muppets like this poster don't have any say on how the club is run. We definitely should be keeping o9 and Isidor.
O'Nien's been totally solid for the most part when he's been called upon. He's proven he can adapt to the PL, is home grown, a great influence around the club & won't be demanding wage increases. Why on earth wouldn't we keep him?

Not a chance. Maybe 5 million tops
Fuck off 5mil , 15 mil at the very least. You're going on like the Sunderland of old. In an ironic twist of fate Newcastle are now primed to undervalue and overspend. Imagine selling Anderson for £35 mill tops ( possibly as low as £15mil ) and later buying Wissa for £50 mill with add on's at the age of 29. 😂 😂

Ghisofli made some incredible signings so far

Makes me laugh when the mags go on, yet I genuinely would have more Sunderland in a combined 11…

Keeper. Ours
Striker. Ours
Full backs. We both have quality
CMs/attack midfield - we both have quality. Although Xhaka, Le Fee, Sadiki over Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton? Maybe? Probably?…
Wingers. Theirs. Shame one has already left ;) Talbi getting better and better, and let’s see what Angulo, Ta Abi can do

That was a canny move actually..... because those add-ons will never be realised 🤣
