Nordi

I would definitely have in my all time lads XI....been going since 1985.

To be honest I could make a case for 4 or 5 of the current team.

I was going to say that this team generally are the best players I’ve seen in my life supporting Sunderland.
We had some great players over my time but some of these are just fantastic.
Xhaka
Nordi
Alderetti
Reinildo
Ballard

In their positions are right up there with the best.

We've never had a better centre midfielder than Xhaka. When he was injured we looked awful. Seriously world class player and captain. Switzerland should have a good world cup.

Has he gone under the radar? What a f***ing player . Like a Rolls Royce on the pitch. Makes it look easy...up there with the best defenders I have ever seen at the SOL. And he seems to love us..take a bow Nordi lad.
Apart from the fact he hasn't then aye...

It's difficult making a case for many of our past players getting in this team.

We've had a few strikers and attacking players that would (Defoe, Phillips, Sess, Steed) but would struggle to fit any midfielders, defenders or keepers in over the current lot.
Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete and Reinaldo would be first choice ever XI. You could argue Roeffs (although Sorensen probably pips him on longevity). Xhaka and Lefee are undoubtedly in there and then Sadiki wouldn’t be far off.

You could have a 2nd back 4 of Hume, Gertruida, O9, Cirkin which is probably as good a back 4 as any other we’ve fielded (since I started in late 70s).

You don't think Ballard has been out best CB this season when fit?
I didn't say that. I said he probably isn't picked in the best back 4 / team ..

I'd have Gerty, Nordi, Alderete, Reinildo as a starting back 4 ...

Ballard possibly a better defender than Mukiele ... but that back 4 IMHO is stronger than

Nordi, Ballard, Alderete, Reinildo

IMHO !!!!

Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete, in that order. Alderete has had a few mishaps over the season.

Not gone under the radar for me, he’s one of the best players we’ve ever had full stop. It’s rare to have someone who’s mentality matches their ability. Class player.
Agreed, certainly not gone under the radar for me. He is probably one of the best athletes I have seen play for us and I have been watching us for 60+ years.
His commitment is fantastic along with his undoubted ability. Thanks Granit for persuading him to join your revolution

He’s been superb this season. At 28 year old he’s probably at his peak now as a footballer and we’re really lucky he’s playing here.

Interestingly he made his debut aged 17 and has since the following year been a part of first team squads at his various clubs (Laval, Montpellier, Leipzig, PSG, etc) but his 32 appearances for us this term is the most football he’s played in a season.

Definitely, only dilemma is RB or RCB.
I think there’s also a strong case for Alderete and Reinildo in defence.
Xhaka and Le Fee both make midfield without doubt. Possibly Sadiki too. Much that I love the likes of Brobbey and Talbi they aren’t there yet.

This again?

18 goals and 17 assists for Sunderland

Played in a far worse team than we currently have and managed 7 goals and 10 assists ( more than Enzo )
Craig Gardner scored 8 goals and 2 assists in the same season Sess had 7 goals and 10 assists, so he must be better than Noah Sadiki and Granit Xhaka.

EDIT - actually 25 of his 37 games that season were at right back according to Transfermarkt so he must be better than Nordi and Hume!

We took a risk based on his injury history and it paid off. If he’d managed more games in previous seasons he’d be starting for PSG in the Champions League final tomorrow!

Quite a few on here wanted rid of him a couple games ago (forest iirc?) Calling him a bad egg.

Quality player. Think his best games probably have been at cb but he’s done well at rb as well with a couple assists. Lucky to have him and he’s a sore loser, which I love.

As another poster said he is a mentality monster like Xhaka. I can see why Xhaka got on the phone to him. I wonder if we scouted him ourselves or if Xhaka put his name forward as someone who could help. Imagine our young lads getting a bit carried away or not giving it 100% what Xhaka and Nordi would be like with them. Their experience and help on and off the pitch is vital to us.

If you our defensive options this season as a collective:

Reinildo, Cirkin
Alderete, Onien
Ballard, Geertruida
Mukiele, Hume.

In my 40 years on earth, we have never had a better set of players to use in our back 4.
Id say at least 5 of them get into the best back four we've had in my lifetime anarl
