The model was always value. That tended to mean free for older players.
Not sure. “Value” is a bit meaningless, every club could say that.

We used to have a line of ~25 under which we hadn’t spent any money under KLD until (iirc) Xhaka

That has now shifted with (I think) 4 players coming in above that line for a fee

Hetty you forgot to post the mandatory youtube-video of the rumoured incoming players latest released rapsong(!!!), but I gladly assist you with it!

Agree. We used to only sign younger players for fees but now we clearly target older players for cash. Xhaka, Mukiele, Traoré and Alderete being the obvious one
The model is value based, they were all value as they offered a higher finish and their fees are either recoverable or paid back in pitch work

In the championship we couldn’t take the risk of high fees, value was deemed to be young players with re sale value to constantly keep improving

The value has never been age based its whether it was value for money

What older players did we sign then was maybe 1

Nobody knows what someone’s value is gonna be they could be shite it’s just someone's opinion your right it was stated we will only pay a fee for players under a certain age as they have some resale value as we used to sign 28/30 year olds for millions then give them away for nowt

I’m afraid we’ll have to respectfully disagree. I’m fairly sure it was confirmed we only paid for under-somethings early on. That has since evolved

I know it’s all about value, but that’s the case with every club. No club signs a player saying “there is no value in this signing”

33 ? Interesting doesn’t fit our model normally
I disagree. I think our summer transfer business showed that while the preference will generally be for younger players, they will sign older players where necessary.

Squad depth is going to be a big deal next season. Right now we need more depth in pretty much every area.

Picking up an experienced player for a small fee, even if you only get a year out of them, will still improve the squad.

However I'm not sure about him. I know he's a good player, but his injury history is horrific.

Since the start of the 2021/22 season he's had 14 injuries and missed 48 games. Maybe playing a rotation role the club could manage his workload and reduce the risk, but his injury record isn't pretty reading!
