University student stabbed

Abother tragic loss of life.

In the UK Sikhs are legally permitted to carry a Kirpan knife in public as it is protected under religious exemption laws.

Ridiculous law, absolutely no reason to carry a knife. Why is the UK soft with shite like this?

Honestly?

Racism is a bad thing, obviously. In relatively modern history, western nations have been the perpetrators of it - slavery, colonisation, marginalisation etc.

The response to that has been to treat racism as the greatest ill in society and thus to make concessions to groups that have experienced racism in an effort to wash the sins of the past.

Somehow along the way we have allowed racism to become not just a terrible thing but the most terrible thing, and since we want to avoid *the most terrible thing* we have decided that yeah it’s fine to allow Sikhs to carry knives, that yeah it’s a fine to arrest a dying man over an allegation of racism, and so on.

We have stopped seeing common sense because the goal of not being racist takes precedence.

It's mental that people can wield knives based on religion. Law should be above religion on all fronts really.

Just no need for it at the end of the day. I don't give a fuck what any religion says but carrying any form of weapon, ceremonial or not is just asking for bother.

Whatever happened to start this off, if he didn't carry a weapon then they may have had a fist fight and the result could be a lot different, the lad gets banged up a bit but lives and the perpetrator probably doesn't end up in jail and ruin his life.

I get that most Sikhs won't ever use them in violence but fuck it, get them banned. Should be no excuse at all for anyone to carry a knife.
