We're On Our Way song

Well hands up butchersy I may have to ask our leader or better still my good mate Slosh.
It was around in the 60's or 70's not among BBV lads anyway.
Then again I was away on soires around the world since 75.
I'm thinking maybe the Reidy era when it came in.
Could be wrang like

Started towards the end of the first half and didn’t stop through half time and all of the second half and celebrations afterwards
Was that the end of the season match, 5-2 or summat?

Remember that guy climbing up the ladder into the roof of the stand with all the stewards and Cops trying to coax him down? One of my favourite ever ,memories that!

Pretty certain it was during the ready era, but can't be certain if it was the first promotion or second. I do remember a manager where I used to work talking about 'that song from paint your wagon'. If I was pushed I'd say first promotion.

Bury away 1999, however everyone sings it nowadays not just palace.
Haha , I was there and at the time I was reporting for that fans forum on the chronicle. I asked the same question in my match report and was told it was the Boldon branch that kicked it off. Class game that mind Bear thanks for reminding me.

I distinctly remember us singing it at Crystal Palace fans during the playoffs in 2003/4, and they never sang it back to us. Plus I’d like to think everyone knows it’s our “win” song at the SoL

Listening to Palace fans tonight can we definitively say this was started by Sunderland fans and when?
It was sang by Sunderland fans during the 1985 cup run, I believe.

The to the premier bit was first sung around that time.

This is becoming a weekly thread
This is the earliest that I heard it on the terraces. 👍
That's when it finally took off (this time).
As said, it had be used a good few years before then died off.
I was 17 at the time, still one of my favourite away days. Barnsley away 3 days later was class too haha. My profile pic is from that Bury game
Great few days that. Sunderland took over both grounds.
