Ha ha absolutely rinsed 😂

I’m already seeing this more & more in the last few days. “We’ll see next season, Sunderlands are going to struggle”.

Yet another one to add to the bingo card of “you’re going down with the worst points ever” “you’re not going to win a match” “six easy points” “you haven’t played anyone yet” “you couldn’t even score past us” “the xG league”

We could win the league next year & there’ll be some narrative as to why we’re shite & they’re class.
Younguns who have grown up in an entitled era where we have been lingering at the bottom of the premier and then in the lower leagues, believing their parents tales about how we aren't fit to be anywhere near them. Now that reality has set in, they're making any excuse under the sun to explain as to why.
Hall isn't even getting ahead of Burn, nevermind Reinildo.
He has hit a poor run but there is no denying his quality. Will be a top left back with the right manager and team. I do rate reinildo very highly mind, but in terms of a balanced view i threw the argument in there

I think a section of every fanbase is deluded, but the way they are firing out any excuse possible is great. They are genuinely living in a bubble.

If we were being fair, any combined 11 must have Roefs, Alderete, Mukiele, Xhaka, Le Fee and Brobbey in it. Thats 6 out of 11 spaces guaranteed. you can argue about tonali/bruno in cm ahead of xhaka due to age etc, but in terms of right now, xhaka is in that lineup. You then have shouts for reinildo v hall (do you prefer an attacking fullback or a more defensive one, granted reinildo does it all but his true strength is defensively. both teams RW is a weak point so thats a debate. Id prefer Reinildo right now, but Hall will be top class long term. We have Sadiki who would be unfortunate to miss out but the midfield 2 would have to be out of xhaka/guimares/tonali, Ballard also misses out to Thiaw.

LW would have to give it to Gordon, as much as i cant stand him, theres a reason hes sought after by top clubs and a mainstay in the England setup.

Therefore, man for man, we have to be seen as the better team.

Im sure many fans will disagree on some of the above, but i think its fair and balanced.
Not sure Ballard misses out to Thiaw in my team

It was a tough call. I think Thiaw looks very strong. Barring the initial 6 i picked (Roefs, Mukiele, Alderete, Xhaka, Le Fee and Brobbey) most are easily debateable. However leaving any of the previous 6 out would be madness, so out of the 11 we have 6. Man for man, we are the better team even when ive been very lenient on some of the calls. We could make a strong argument it could be 8 out of the 11 really

1 point per game AFTER the Champions League.

Don't moan about too many games when you're the only team in England who puts their first 11 into cup games in a cup which not one other team cares about unless they blunder through to the final.

They’ll lose their heads next season if they’re above us and we say “we’ve had Europe to balance with the PL”

Will completely lose their shit

All this bollocks about playing more games means we'll be found out next season is horsesh!t as well.

As a club, Sunderland, for the past eight years, have become used to playing more than 38 games a season. Granted it was at a different level and with a (largely) different type and set of players, but they are used to managing fitness and injuries over an extended season.

There is no reason to believe that they can't manage it again next season - despite the higher levels of performance needed. That's why we bought better players and that's why we'll buy some more to help take the strain.

They're running out of straws to grasp and it's becoming more and more obvious to the wider fanbases in the EPL how deep and ridiculous their delusions are.

For me man for man there is very little difference in quite a lot of positions. Where we have the major advantage is when you put them together to perform as a team. Another big difference is Regis le bris v Eddie Howe and this is where we win hands down

Objectively we have more players in a combined 11. To say that after where we both were a year ago is incredible really. They’ll not admit it though.

The psychological damage this is doing to them is staggering, and this is just the beginning. Think about how much it fucked with their heads when we went 6 in a row in the derbies, and that , as when we were generally doing worse than them in the league. Now we've done them in the derbies AND finished above them in the league AND we're in Europe and they're not, AND we're the ones getting admiration in some parts of the media and from other fans, and coming across better with the tifos and the content our social media team brings out.

We haven't even begun to see how much this is going to damage them.

By contrast the absolute pinnacle of their achievements as the RICHEST CLERB IN THE WORLD was winning the League Cup which didn't really bother us that much.

They are fucked. Completely and utterly

If their owners pull the investment, they are in big trouble. Even if they dont, the squad isnt good enough. If they sold Gordon & Tonali, their recruitment team havent shown anything to say itll be re invested wisely. I dont think they actually realise the bother they are in as their squad depth is also very very poor. Could they be next years West Ham?

Imagine the panic if we start to progress well in the Europa. The last 4 English teams in it have done very well.
