I heard an interview with one of the players the other day (i can't remember who it was) and they were basically saying they had started working on next seasons game plan in the last few months of this season once we knew we were safe. And that ties in a lot with us being more on the front foot.

Earlier in the season we would always have less of the ball and have to outperform our Xg to get results, whereas now we regularly have 10+ shots on goal per game, was 21 i think on sunday. It's like the club know our approach (whilst ensured we got results in the short term), was not going to be enough to compete at the top end consistently.

I'd love to see an analysis of our shots per 90 mins over the season and Xg per 90 over the season. I think we'd be able to clearly point to the moment the attention switched.

I'm confident over the summer we will sign players who will enable us to play more on the front foot week in week out and we'll be absolutely fine. We'll play the old hard to beat away from home in Europe (still pinching myself), and be on the front foot at home

That's not enough players IMO if you think about the amount of game time each has had this season. If Ballard gets his annual injury or Reinildo gets a red, it's suddenly very thin

True but we could loan a couple from top 6 teams.What I am saying is for me almost every penny needs to be spent on goals and goal threat.

Aye and we aren't going to find a player of his quality and versatility for £23m
 
he'll want to be first choice wherever he goes. and that's why i don't seem him signing. he should be signed as our starting right back but even at the minute if Ballard was fit it would have been Nordi there. as we've seen most the season

just don't see Regis regularly leaving out one of Nordi or Ballard and that's what it would take for Geertruida to be a regular in this team - and that's before adding anyone else to the squad

I think he will be off Liverpool. He knows the manager and he seemed to of had his head turned at the time. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a gentlemens agreement behind the scenes to see our season out only if we agreed not to buy him so he could go to Liverpool. This is just supposition, but what other reason can you think of why we wouldn’t want to buy him, he’s a snip at the price and a world class player.
He’s in the Dutch World Cup squad it’s a no brainer to sign him considering we need a squad for Europa league football.

Agree but we are all in agreement but what we dont know is how much we can spend,if he wants to stay,and does he want a guaranteed place in the starting lineup.So guess we have to leave it to the club to do the right thing

Aye I think you've nailed it.

Maybe with the reduction in our SCR because of UEFA we will look to a less proven, cheaper option.

More likely I believe Geertruida might have other options he likes, just with the way the other players have been posting on social media asking him to sign.
