Probs been said before but too many posts but what a job that man has done
Came to us in the championship and we had no parachute payments to invest and then found we had to sell Jack Clarke. Got us promoted and then first season in the premier league got us to 7th. Yes at times he has had some sticky for results and subs but he has still over achieved in two year
We talk about signings but to me, he is the most vital one we need to retain.
Next year, we will see his metal but a top 10 and out of group stages would be another unreal achievement
 

I know it will be said i’me reading too much into it, but just seen a photo on the pitch of KLD Satori and Xhaka all with their children, would have thought RLB would have been on as well. Hopefully I am reading too much into it

I know he signed a new contract earlier in the season but I'd be seriously considering a new 5 year one to ward off any approaches
 
After we were relegated to the third division following McMenemy, Cloughie was asked about Sunderland. He said “They got it wrong with him. The man who finally gets my club back to where it belongs will be a man no one has ever heard of. Not a big name, but a quiet, unknown genius.” I’ve said a few times before…. perhaps RLB is that man.

Mind you, my favourite Cloughie quote is this one - “I came because of the people. You see, the club was made by the people. The club is dictated to by the people.”
 
I said at the start of the season that I thought comparisons with Reids team were premature.

I now think they've surpassed what that team achieved - matched the finishing position but got us into Europe which we didn't do those years (albeit a bit unlucky).

The exciting bit is the owners seem like they want to push on - and have the means to do it. Under Reid / Murray we always felt like we were punching above our weight.

So who knows where we maybe this time next season - though for what it's worth, id take top 10 and a respectable outing in the Europa now. Consistency is key next year and it will bring new challenges.

Despite when you actually look at it, we have set up in multiple different ways over the season. And since the 40 point mark was achieved we have definitely been trying to play more attacking football, I assume planning for next season.

Reid had 2 stellar seasons ( 2 7th place finishes ), then lost Quinn and wheels came off. Next season 4th bottom and one after that à humiliating low point relegation.
He was detested by the time Murray had guts to bin him.
Things change very quickly. À couple of injuries to key players and you’re done. Just because RLB has had 2 good seasons doesnt mean he will have another 5 consecutive ones
Can’t imagine how our season would have gone had Xhaka not stayed so fit
To my mind Xhaka was every bit as crucial to our success this season as RLB

They can but when you think this season hasn't been without injuries. Roefs, Ballard, Xhaka, Traore have all had injuries that have kept them out a while
Afcon in the mix, just think RLB when being interviewed for the job, his remit would not have been promotion and 7th in the league within 2 seasons. Vastly over achieved
