Home European Attendances

Our home attendances in knock out footy hasn’t been great in years gone by.
And you have to realise why.

We’ve never taken the cups seriously in all my lifetime.

We’ve been either fighting relegation or going for promotion.

We’ve never had a cup scheme and there’s never been any chance of going to Wembley so there’s no jeopardy of missing out.

We’ve put our shit teams constantly.

The mags absolutely nailed it, taking it seriously, fear of missing out and a cup scheme.

We did have a cup scheme last time we were in the PL.
Sunderland v Juventus is a lot different from Sunderland v Mansfield mind.

We didn’t sell out the cup quarters vs Chelsea or the Semi vs Man U though.

We regularly sold the full allocation for away games but only a couple of the home games were close to sell-outs, not helped by the fact that visiting teams don't tend to bring many supporters.

If we can get 40k+ down to London watch us play Pompey. Think we can get a few more at SOL for Milan

Be sold out in no time. It’s only been a 53 year wait. Do you seriously believe fans won’t be arsed going to us in a European match 😆.
I reckon it’s bring out the pyros again.

Pricing could be interesting. Personally I’d like to see the club maximise match day revenue. If we could sell out all four home games averaging £50 a ticket it would bring in around £10m in revenue. Add prize money and tv money and the group stages alone could generate £20m plus.

There’s a price cap I think.

Only for visiting fans...and the price is set for comparable areas in the ground. Anywhere better than the away support seating can be whatever the club like. So I'd assume there's a chance that any home tickets won't be less than what can be charged for the away fans which is 45 quid max for an adult ticket.

The way the finances are set with uefa and effectively losing 15% of spending power competing may well be the club views the games as a way of minimising that reduction
