Predict a signing

Quite possibly yeah. It’s a lot of additional games however, that midfield will have played a lot
Yeah so it may me that we sign another midfielder that we don’t use in Europe, and that player provides respite in league matches for the players playing in Europe.

I think we need 8 home grown players but 4 that we have produced. The other 4 I think are covered in Ballard, Hume, Mayenda, Cirkin (if we give him a contract) and maybe even O’Nein?

How many count as homegrown because of how long they’ve been at the club being under 21

Club trained in the purest sense
Rigg
Neil
Patterson
Mayenda (depending on the above)
Cirkin (depending on the above)
Young

Association trained
Ballard

We’re either going to have to keep some players who we didn’t think we would be or give some of the academy lads squad places
O’Nien, Moore, Mundle all homegrown too as are Alese and Hjelde. I don’t think Mayenda quite qualifies but it’s borderline and seems to have been applied a bit inconsistently in past. Matty Young is an obvious option for academy kid inclusion but would probably benefit more from another good loan.

Might not be massively glamorous, but a Ross Barkley type midfielder would be perfect. Good option instead of Granit. He’s been an excellent squad player for Villa.

Not Hume, it’s only England and Wales academies. I don’t think Mayenda will ever qualify but the rules have been applied a bit inconsistently so might. O’Nien is homegrown.

Don’t think Cirkin will, sure he was 20 when he came. Not sure on Mayenda, turned 21 the other week , be interesting to know if this season counts as 1 of the 3 years. But on the whole I agree with you, might be a bit hard to balance out

I think if he was u21 before the season started this year would count for Mayenda but not sure if his loan spell at Hibs impacts it too

Pedro Neto anyone?

Good chance Chelsea sell him to create some space, but he's still an excellent Premier League player with loads of experience, only 26 and got 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions for them this season.
I was glad he went off yesterday, he was always dangerous. Gave Reinildo a tough afternoon

All the same things some daft people said about Xhaka in the summer. As long as he is fit and raring to go, he is still top, top quality.

Fair and we do need to add experience in some areas

Stones doesn’t strike as having the same drive as Granit though and would want all the money

Harvey Elliot for RW/ No 10 would be a shout. We need more home grown players to meet the rules and he would be a discount price with contract winding down and not much play time on loan to villa.

Or maybe Amad depending on who united sign, we are desperate for a RW that can beat a man and has end product, he's polarised Man U fans but would be worshipped here, would be able to attract players like that with Europa league football now as well.

Couple of big ones like that with a proven finisher/ poacher, then maybe some for squad depth/ competition i.e. Cresswell, Rico Lewis, Hackney.

If Roefs goes reinvest some of the money in getting Trafford from city. I'm going for more home grown cos we are dangerously close to the threshold and will be losing even more home grown players in the summer.

Don't get me wrong, I think we are currently doing good for CBs with Mukiele, Alderete, Ballard and 09, but one more strong for a good push in Europe will help us no end.

Strength in depth is needed.

Current squad meets requirements but at least two of the Home grown by club (HMG) will be leaving (and one might not even count)

Roeffs
Moore (hmg)
Ellborg
Young (HMG)
Ballard (hmg)
Mukiele
Reinaldo
Hume
O’Nien (hmg)
Alderete
Gertuider
Cirkin (hmg)
Xhaka
Sadiki
Le Fee
Rigg (HMG)
Diarra
Talbi
Neil (HMG)
Angulo
Tai Bi
Traore
Brobbey
Mayenda (HMG)
Isidor

If we have to keep Young at the club to be the European 2nd choice I’d be ok with that and let Ellborg miss out so one of our new super signings can have the squad place

Someone else might need to miss out to accommodate an academy lad to meet the requirements if Neil leaves as expected
