Think people might be disappointed by the transfer window this year. Not as many dopamine hits.. I also think (disappoitingly) we may see one of Sadiki or Roefs leave to fund our spend.

Aye but you can have as many of your kids in as you want without having them in the 25. If you don’t have proper homegrown players you basically limit how big your squad can be.

Yeah that’s right. You don’t have to have them but you just lose the spot if you don’t.

He's unlikely to leave London tbh. I think Harry Wilson might be a more realistic target but there'll be a few after him as well.

Indeed but the four academy kids part is easy to meet and relatively few clubs have four starter level players from their own academy. It’s the squad size over a full season that’s more challenging especially with a fair few homegrown lads about to go- Huggins, Cirkin, Alese, Patto, Browne, Jones, Hjelde.
I think 2/3 homegrown signings would make a lot of sense but they come at a significant premium.

It’s not easy to meet. We only have 1. You can bulk the bench out with kids and that’s fine and a great experience for them. The homegrown you are talking about is also going to get harder as it’s possible that you end up in a situation where you sign them and can only play them in the league and not Europe.

My guess would be that we just register a couple of players that we have absolutely no intention of giving any minutes to, and then we just work with a smaller playing squad.

IIRC we need 4 players that our academy has produced. We don’t need to use any of those 4 in matches though. So although Rigg would be one of them, the other 3 just go to some of the more promising looking future prospects line Geragusean (sp?) to hive them the travel experience.

How many count as homegrown because of how long they’ve been at the club being under 21

Club trained in the purest sense
Rigg
Neil
Patterson
Mayenda (depending on the above)
Cirkin (depending on the above)
Young

Association trained
Ballard

We’re either going to have to keep some players who we didn’t think we would be or give some of the academy lads squad places

Quite possibly yeah. It’s a lot of additional games however, that midfield will have played a lot

Don’t think Cirkin will, sure he was 20 when he came. Not sure on Mayenda, turned 21 the other week , be interesting to know if this season counts as 1 of the 3 years. But on the whole I agree with you, might be a bit hard to balance out
