I obviously love all of those glorious heroes, but here goes.....

My lad absolutely loves football. He plays and tries his hardest, it doesn't come easy to him.

All kids grow up hoping to be Messi or Ronaldo, and if you're that good, fantastic be Messi or Ronaldo!

But if you're not that good, you can be Luke O'Nien.

You can be the best pro you can, own up to your mistakes - pour over them and keep learning.

You can be the best person behind the scenes, setting the right example.

You can be "limited" in ability but work your backside off day in day out for a couple of decades. And in the end, if your lucky..... You might end up being the person and the player Luke is.

I think Luke O'Nien might be the best possible example to any little footballers out there. And I'm absolutely buzzing he's been part of our journey.

(*And I'm not saying he's a limited footballer in any sense, some of them cross field, 45 yard pings are an absolute joy to behold).
 

Wild we found the ultimate role model at our lowest point. And you’re 100%. The desire the do your best and learn is something that we all know we should do, but somewhere along the way lots of people stop striving to be better.

O’Nien clearly never has, and probably never will. He will be aiming to be even better next season and wanting to play every Premier League and Europa League game.
 
It's only his lack of height and perhaps a bit of impetuosity that stops him being a first choice.
He has done brilliantly considering his start at the club and gives everything he has .
Hope he can continue his time at the club in some capacity when he retires.

I remember arguing with fans in the south stand on why Mowbray started playing him at centre half. Look at his passing today by the way, left footed sprays. The boy might end up in bother now and again but he can pass a ball.
