Absolutely incredible. Born in North Shields, me Granda convinced to be a Sunderland supporter. 1973 rings a bell. I am now 56. 53 years of frustration and close calls. But, this is a whole new level. It's the hope I can't stand.

Best manager in our modern history?
Absolutely. What Reid did was amazing, but back then there was a top 4, but outside of that anyone could have a run up the table.

The European spots have been more and more of a closed shop, adding Man City Spurs and Newcastle potentially, and throw in established well run teams like Brighton, Bournemouth Brentford in the mix, to break the top 10 let alone Europe as a newly promoted club without parachute money to pump up our squad is miraculous.

The first manager to bring European football to the stadium of light..and several decades. He has to be the best in my lifetime anyway 🤣
