SOL expansion

100% this. We have a massive opportunity to claim the next generation of fans for ourselves.

We will not do this by standing still, having massive hikes to ticket prices, and putting up the sold out signs.

I think it’s really important that we make watching Sunderland accessible to as many people as possible
Supporting a football team is all well & good, but there’s nothing compares to being there. You might be happy we beat Coventry a year ago & then the final & jumped about the pub, but it’s not the same. You’re not part of it.

All these little idiots running around in black & white shirts & their parents have got either no intention or are unable to get them to a match is a waste. Once you get the bug, once you’re part of it & experience something like a Tommy Watson or Ballard last minute winner you’re in. You’re not in if you haven’t got the ability to get past the turnstile with your bairns

Think that's massively overstating it. There's plenty of opportunity to get tickets whether that's on a Tuesday at 10am or via resale. There aren't 1000s locked out every week

Nobody is locked out at the minute. Maybe if they decide last minute, but it's still pretty straightforward most of the time. At least up to now.
I'd still say mine is affordable mind. Its gone up like a canny bit, but I'd say it's still fair.
You're on a discount though. I don't think they could afford to raise the full price much and not start losing people. Exception being if we start challenging.

Think everyone would for cheaper tickets. However given its about raising revenues, and doing that wouldn't generate extra money, its not really going to happen.
Burwell did an interview recently when he was asked "if you had unlimited resource, what would you do?". His response was immediate and it was extend the stadium, not so much for the extra seats but for how much corporate they could add which would allow increases in revenue without having to raise the cost of tickets as they're all too aware of the income of people in the area. And also he wanted to get offices, ticket office etc to get the people who work for the club together and in the stadium.

Money thing then.

Yeah, it was quite clear that the senior leadership team are not satisfied with the ratio of hospitality. To achieve the target ratio, a significant number of seats need to be converted into hospitality meaning the standard seating numbers would no longer be sufficient. Only one answer to that and that is to extend.

That makes sense if they've got the money to do it.

I think you mentioned earlier, or perhaps it was another poster but if we have another season of sell outs and being competitive, that would be the trigger to do it. I don’t think finance is the issue. If it makes sense, they will secure the finance.

Yeah, I think they want to ensure we're able to sell out at a certain price point first. Maybe he'll announce it today though with a monorail station.

Only game in town to extend, who caress if it is full all the time, they will only really care about the percentage of the corporate capability being full.

In truth, its probably cheaper to do the two stands at once

There's not really though is there.

If you're not on the ball at 10am chances are you miss out. You've got no or limited choice on where you sit too.

Get that East stand extension built

Yeah appreciate that but its a lot easier than a lot of the other clubs. People who want a ticket will generally get one. Deciding where you sit isn't a big deal

No, you’re wrong. As someone who’s went to every home match for 20 odd years, if I wanted to take my kids today, it’s exactly as I said. No overstating, I’d have had to buy more tickets, even though I had a ticket already.
