Dan Burn or Harry Maguire?

i presume he's picked Burn on the basis he can also 'play' left back - badly

going to have some egg on his face if this tournament goes badly as some of his selections are bizarre

If you listen to Tuchell he hasn't picked the best 26 players in the country. He has picked a team with everyone having a specific job for any eventuality

For example .. Toney to take a pen, Burn for set pieces, players to come one when we are chasing a game, Djed Spence in case we play against someone quick, Henderson for his leadership on and off pitch etc etc.
He has looked at every possible scenario and I'm positive he has took Burn for a tight game when a set piece might be important. Only time will see if he got it right
Exactly as he said, its team, not the 26 best players.
It initially felt a bit harsh on Maguire but after the way him and his family have carried on in the press, it shows Tuchel made the right choice. Nobody has a god-given right to be selected for the national team.
And as Tuchel it's about team, and those who are happy with the role given.

Maguire is slow and forces England to play a deep line. He's also a bit of a fanny judging by his reaction to being left out
So is Burn mind you.

His reaction has been a lot more muted than the vast majority of fans  , but I'm not really arsed about that, he's a player in good club form, that's had success in previous tournaments, and realistically this was his last shot at a World Cup.

No-one in their right mind would choose Burn
Burn is a carthorse. McGuire’s a spoiled child who has some integrity issues.

More widely, I couldn’t give a b***** about England. True, we’ve really only got Chris Rigg who could conceivably make an England squad at the moment and i doubt he had any outside expectation of making it… but when we have had international-class players in the past (Pop Robson, Lord Rowell, Shaun Elliott, Chris Turner, Bracewell, SuperKev and Mickey Gray all spring to mind), none of them got a fair look in whether at full or B or U-21 level.

If the likes of Gordon and Burn can make the cut even in today’s context, then England fans should cut the self-delusion and forget any hope of being amongst the favourites.

I think it has come down to burn will be easier to keep quiet for not playing. He is just happy to be on the plane

Clearly maguire would have thought he has some sort of role play but it’s just to keep the benches warm

He reaction before the announcement confirmed his personality

Who said we had expectations. 🤔

I think this is the best description I saw on twitter about Tuchel one of his most effective qualities is that he doesn’t give a toss what you, I or anyone else thinks of the squad he’s picked. He’ll have a ridiculously detailed plan, and he’ll live or die by that plan

Only time will tell if he has gotten it right.
