Sure he's played well recently but it's totally reasonable that Tuchel didn't take him and lots of other defenders have earned their place. The way him and his family have gone on makes them all look like selfish morons. If he wanted a place in the squad maybe he shouldn't have played so abysmally for bloody ages.

When you look at it, Macguire vs Dan Burn, there’s no competition. The only plus for Burn is he can play left back too. But what team wanting to do well in a World Cup would have Dan Burn left back? The team in the bottom half of the league even don’t want him left back.

Maybe Maguire is in better form but it's hard to separate an individual performance from the system they're in. But even if you do accept that logic then Maguire was an embarrassment for ages and now cos he's played well for 15 games it's suddenly an outrage he isn't selected. It's disrespectful to all the other lads who got called up.

Compared to many of illustrious English CB’s he is very ordinary

Aye his defence about thinking he was being abducted just screams of Little England wanker being a dick in Magaluf and getting rightly arrested by the Guardia Civil. I also remember him talking about the music played in the United changing rooms and he said something like 'It's nothing the English lads would put on' - which, I know, is not that offensive but the way he said it was so dismissive as if to say 'what are these weird foreigners all about?'. I know it's no great crime but I found it very revealing about the type of bloke he is.
